[LE] Skyrim ENB shadows too dark or too drastic change

Greetings one and all!

 

Finally, being blessed with free time, I've taken it upon myself to experiment with various ENB mods for Skyrim. Currently, I'm enamored with Quietcool. The appearance it gives is clearly a gift from the gods. The colors are mystical, the lighting leaves a nice refreshing breath to the game, and I feel as though I am in a cold, baren landscape... but I'm having a problem with the outdoor daylight shadows. The darkness swallows all who enter, and makes it impossible to gauze into its depths; the light is grand otherwise. The ambientdaylight was increased to no effect unless at impossibly high levels and risk killing my retina. While messing around with it, I noticed that if the gods bless my cursor at just the right spot the shadows change from blackhole http://imgur.com/h5NUGgp to perfect http://imgur.com/NlPXx7C . If I don't turn on the injector (turning off ENB) the shadows return to the normal game level. I fear it might be some type of conflict with a mod or some past satanic ENB file messing with mine world. I will continue in my quest for ridding the lands of Skyrim with enveloping shadows but would greatly appreciate any and all suggestions to my quandary.

Here are some settings that might influence the darkness/contrast of shadows in exterior daytime

 

[bLOOM]

AmountDay

 

[sSAO_SSIL]

AOAmount

AOIntensity

 

[sKYLIGHTING]

AmbientMinLevel

 

[ENVIRONMENT]

DirectLightingIntensityDay -- lower this while you

AmbientLightingIntensityDay -- raise this one

 

 

There are more, but I think settings these will be sufficient... other can be found in enbeffect.fx.

What is happening in those screenshots is your "eyes" are adjusting in game. The calculation does not care how long you have been in the dark, it cares about how bright the center of teh screen is compared to certain predefined spots.

 

There are few options to deal with this. If you can't deal with the super dark shadows, raise the ambiant light levels until you can see into them WHILE looking at a bright area at mid day. The same goes for dungeons. look directly at a bright spot, adjust the ambiant light.

 

Note, this WILL make shadows even brighter when you are in them and looking at a dark area. So thats your choice.

I would really appreciate more enlightnment on this topic.Is there a way to disable the "eye adaption" or at least control it. (i realize the "Adaptation" effect for enb is not the same) I found out some enbs have this and some not, and the my best personal ones use this and is so frustrating in snowy lands during day,while everywhere else looks beautiful.

I know this is an old post but I came across it whilst looking for a solution to the same problem OP had.

I found the above quoted information useful, specifically changing:

 

[sKYLIGHTING]

AmbientMinLevel

 

helped fix the issue for me. Thought it might help others who come across this thread for the same problem. Thanks @prod80
