Adding MMD models to Creation Kit

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone -

I'm completely new to modding and I'm curious to know if it's possible for me to do the following,

I want to use an MMD model to use as a companion.

The idea is that I wanted to add Yuno Gasai as a new companion. Yes I know it sounds ridiculous, but it's more of an experimental/learning project for me so I can get used to modding for Fallout 4.

However, I have no idea what happens if I were to create a new companion.

I'm currently watching different videos to understand how to create one.

I notice in other mods or mod showcases for WIPs, such as a Jotaro Kujo mod where Star Platinum is a companion, and the model used for him is the one used in the EOH game for Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Which is why I am wondering if adding a completely new model from MMD is a thing. Could someone please tell me what I need to do in order to import the model into Creation Kit so I can be able to have that as the model for Yuno.

If this is not possible, can someone please give me some tips on editing a model, and adding a completely new hairstyle? I want to at least have the companion resemble Yuno if she was in fact a fallout character.

I also want to know how to add her outfit to the game if adding the MMD model is not possible, or at least somewhere along the lines of resembling her outfit from the anime. If not, how can I edit outfits so that they can be equipped to her when the player gives her some armor/outfits

So, you have 0 experience and want to learn modding for fallout 4, by doing all this?

Never heard of "baby steps"?

Creating a companion, with 'custom' models, hairstyle and clothing is something you should consider 'advanced', not 'basic' (or 'easy').

The answer to your questions would take many video's or written tutorials to explain, so you better keep watching those.

But you better think of something much simpler first, to get to know the tools you will need. (3D studio/Blender, Nifskope, material editor, outfitstudio, photoshop/gimp and of course creation kit. maybe even more*)

edit:

* like audio editing software, if you wish to add some voiced dialog

I'm a Digital Art major and have done projects similar in the past, such as making animations and making models, so modding is something I want to try out as well to expand my knowledge. I've also worked with Unity and Blender. Basically I'm just testing some things out, such as the audio. I don't expect this to be a mod that I can get done in a few weeks. Just something fun for me to work on. If you have any more tips, I'd love to hear them!

What's MMD?

MMD stands for MikuMikuDance. It's a program where you can make animations using models of your favorite characters (mostly anime). I've done a few shorts using the program, and it's definitely not easy, especially if you don't use a pre-programmed motion/animation that someone made that you can have your model perform.
