New Fallout fan, potential modder

Hi all,

 

I'm a professional developer and occasional gamer, and I've recently dipped my toes into game development with Unity. For some years I rarely had the time to play games so I became interested in games that don't require the fast-twitch reflexes that I lost since college. A couple of years ago Fallout 3 caught my eye, and I have since sunk over 200 hours into Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Recently I heard rumours that a new Fallout was in development... for 2015. That seems an eternity to me, so here I am to try and get my fix until then!

 

My personal style with Fallout (and other sandbox-style games) is to be mostly good, sneak snipe and explore. I love stumbling across new locations and secrets. I love worlds that I can change, e.g. quests with side-effects, reputation, unlockable content, etc. And I love deep history and mystery adding to the atmosphere.

 

I have been playing on XBox 360, but for modding I imagine I'll have to move to PC. Time to buy the games again. :wink: No doubt I'll be posting various beginner modding questions. I imagine that mod compatibility will be "fun".
