Want to make a standalone mod with some of the clothes from GRIM - The Curse

Recommended Posts

Hi,

although the title says it all, let me elaborate. First of all, I have 0 knowledge of how mod works. Maybe some tweaking with weapon/armor stat and adding keyword is all I can do. I've been searching for guides and trying for the last few hours to make it work somehow as a standalone clothing mod, excluding any weather, lighting, music, audio overhauls, etc, that are in GRIM. If anyone knows how to make a standalone clothing/armor mod out of another mod or know a guide that might help me, please let me know. It would be a tremendous help for me.

Hey. There was once a very good video about exactly this topic on YouTube, but sadly the YouTuber "Daniel McGamer" deleted all of his video for what ever reason.

So, I will try my best to help with my broken english

01-Get the permission first fom the mod author of this mod, so that you can use his assets. This is maybe the most important step, because without it you wont be able to upload it on any mod page that is worth visiting.

02-Copy all the assets of this mod into a new folder for each file class (so, a new texture folder for the textures in the textures directory, the same for meshes and so on).

03-Merge your mod file with the mod file of the other mod author in FO4Edit, but make a backup file first of both files (sometimes the merging process can have unexpected outcomes and so is a backup really necessary).

04-Change the file paths of the mod files from the other mod to your new directories via FO4Edit and if necssary via Nifskope and Material Editor*.

05-Save your file and start to delete the masters in FO4Edit that are unnecessary now with the delete key of your keyboard. If you can't delete them, then you have still to search after filepaths that lead to the old directories of the old mod and change them to your directories.

That should be everything, if I have not forget something.

*Some things you will only be able to change via Nifskope and/or the Material Editor, far as I remember.

Hope it helps.
