Skyrim SE Running Ultra Slow (possible duplicate post)

Apologize if this is a double post, my first post has not appeared so I try again. Maybe my account is too new.

I just installed Skyrim SE (and SKSE 2.0.20) + a few mods on my old Dell Alienware M17xR3. This rig used to run Skyrim with mods no problem, back in the day. Now? Total garbage. It does run, but it is not playable at any graphics setting. Makes me think my GPU is not recognized ... or my system is just too old to deal with SSE.

Can somebody here look at my specs and tell me if this is hopeless? Thanks.

Well this post showed up. Let me try the rest ...

Even the wagon ride during the intro is laggy. Character creation is painfully slow. The tutorial phase is just unplayable. Performance is so bad, it makes me think the GPU is getting bypassed.

If I try to launch vanilla Skyrim ("TESV.exe") I see the familiar splash screen with an options window where I can select my graphics adapter. When I launch SSE ("SkyrimSE.exe") I get a new splash screen but the options window does not let me select the graphics adapter ... it did an auto-detect and set my graphics to Medium on first launch. Screen shot attached.
