Lexington Interiors Vortex "wild edits" message

Recommended Posts

Firstly, apologies for not posting this on the Lexington Interiors thread. For some inexplicable reason my browser (Brave) won't display buttons to add comments or posts or whatever on that thread. Also: apologies if this was already answered but I was unable to find any information when looking.

Anyway....

This infamous message that appears under the dwuk_lexingtoninteriors.esp in Vortex:

"This plugin contains wild edits and may require additional cleaning to not interfere with other mods. Remove edit 000E081D and 0006496C from LexingtonInteriors.exp. Modify edit..."

....blar blar, you know the one I'm referring to.

I'm very confused by it. Only two of the references in the message actually exist and one of those is only in the Fallout4.esm not the dwuk_lexingtoninteriors.esp. Furthermore, the message says "may require." Okay. Under what circumstances?

I'm unsure if the message is automatically generated by Vortex, LOOT, the added by original author or what. To whom should I speak about either changing the message to be clearer, or getting rid of it altogether lest it do more harm than good. I bet I'm not the only one who's utterly perplexed by it, somewhat fed up of seeing it and yet powerless to fix whatever problem it says may or may not exist.

Please point me in the right direction

Spanx

You have to go to the Mod thread for questions, (the one on the mod page itself) the thread that shows on the forum side won't allow posting, as it screws up the formatting on the mods side. :D

That said, I am not seeing anything about those in the mod thread, or any conflicts for that matter.... *Might* be safe to just ignore them.

Thanks for clearing up why I couldn't post on the forum side.

As for the LOOT message itself. I agree - and "ignoring it" is exactly what I have been doing. Presumably everyone else has been doing the same :-D. In the years I've been playing Fallout 4 with Lexington Interiors installed I haven't experienced any crashes I could attribute to that particular mod. But you know what Fallout 4 modding is like, so who knows. Buffout 4 and the new crash log scanner is changing all that though.

Now, having that worrisome little message there is very off-putting though, especially for new comers to Fallout 4 modding. I think it would be prudent to get it altered to be clearer/correct or removed altogether. I'll go n' leave a comment over on the mod page as you suggest. I'll also see what the LOOT gods have to say about it.

For anyone who stumbles on this forum post, this LOOT message has already been mentioned over on the mod's bugs page:

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/19120?tab=bugs

Please continue the discussion over there :-)

In summery, the message has to do with broken precombines. However.... well.... go and read what I wrote on the bugs page :-P
