working at the docks!

so i was just thinking, what would happen if i could work at the docks! you know, there are two major docks in skyrim, one in windhelm and one in solitude, there are so many ships there, and surely the captain of those ships need workers to move their goods from the ship to the warehouses or from the warehouses to the ships,or trying to find costumers for their goods within the city walls... or maybe even invensting on the ships or at least a simple quest to steal from the warehouses!!! or maybe even gaurding the ships against pirates!you know, for example there can be a door in the ship and when you go to it,it opens to another ship in the middle of the sea,the ship looks just like the one you went aboard it,and there are pirate attacking the ship and you have to defend the captan and the crew... i look at these docks and i see all this potential for making at least ten good mods relating to the docks but there is still nothing...

Hmm investing in a ships cargo would be kind of cool but as unpredictable as the weather in skyrim. I mean say you invest 500-1000 gold septims on a voyage across the sea and the weather changes and kicks up a raging squall and the ship and all hands are lost. Also I suppose there could be a timed dock quest were a ship has to castoff in a certain amount of time and you would have to unload so many crates before the timer runs out but me personally I hate timed quests, I don't like being rushed in real life and I hate being rushed in a game.

hi,it's right that there is always a possibility for ships to sink but the point you are missing is that the skyrim has the worst climate!see,if you go right from skyrim docks, you will get to morrowind which is a warm country,if you go left, you will get to highrock and then hammerfell! and hammerfell is suppouse to be alike with arabian countries, look at the redguard's dresses and swords and skin colour! so that would be a warm country too,so we can understand the skyrim has the worst weather, don't you thinck the nords would have made the strongest ships to avoid sinking because of the weather sitiuation? beside invensting is a very simple mod,i'm sure you can even do it using some cheat codes but it wouldn't be much immersive and you must have a really strong imagination to assume the sailors went and came back and now they want to pay you back! because they are there the whole time staring at you!!

and for the timed quest thing,i wouldn't really be a problem because they go and come back so many times that even if you randomly visit the docks you may get there on time.

Granted Nords might be good boat builders and they could even hire some elemental wizards to help tame the weather for the trips but I imagine that there is more than just the weather to sink the ship. Getting stuck in a doldrum for days or even weeks until the crew runs out of fresh drinking water and starts drinking sea water to quench there thirst and eventually go insane and kill themselves off. Or the possibility of sea creatures, pirates or even running into sea weed clusters that damage or destroy the rudder.

yes yes there are so many logical reasons for a ship to sink or to be destroyed but there are also so many unlogical things in skyrim, for example, how can a carriage take you from one hold to another without facing bandits?or how is it that you can simply go and attack windhelm and even going axe to axe with ulfric himself whitout having an army of stormcloaks coming from their camps to aid the city? or why the mines are so limited? or why can't you kill some specific npcs or where do the city guards come from and why they have no family and such things... it's so good if the modders can make this mod somehow that it works randomly but it just makes it harder for them since they have to create a random system and let's say 1 out of 5 ships get sinked, how many ship are there in skyrim totally? less than 10 ships! and even fewer if you don't count the ones and the dawnstar or winterhold...

beside, simply investing in ships isn't the reason i made this request,i actually want to concentrate on the working thing for player who wants to be a nobody in skyrim, the customer finding for the ones who master the speech skill and the protecting thing for the ones who play the game as a sellsword, and this whole investing thing is something for all kind of players to use their money investing on ships rather than hiding their coins in endtables in their houses!because honestly 500 to 1000 gold a weak is nothing for the dragon born!

I actually think that would be a sick mod. The content you could add out at sea: Mer-people/sirens, Leviathon/Sea Dragons, Pirates, Old Nord ghosts lost at sea, Hell a whole ghost ship. Idk I get excited seeing a new idea. Obviously adding in all the new stuff to protect your cargo against would be a challenge modding, but nothing worth doing is easy. I like the idea man.
