[LE] how do i use a custom race mod like cotr an the dz races, to create an follower etc in creation kit?

im working on making a few custom follower mods in the kit, but as i go i cant figure out how to use the same custom race used for a certain character, when making the follower, i use the dz race which are altenative races added by the cotr mod and its extras to make highpoly faces etc. so my follower is dz darkelf but i can only find the vanilla darkelf race in races, and when i go to data and try to load the mod to creationkit i cant find it in the main esm, or plugin files. im very new to modding and could use the help, i guess what im asking if i made it too convoluted is how to make new npcs have modded races??
