Enraptured

Hello everyone! This is the first time I have posted anything in the Roleplaying section, so here's to hoping that it goes well!

The story revolves around the dawn of the reconstruction efforts of the city of Rapture. To those who are unfamiliar with the story of Bioshock, please refer to this link (it doesn't take long to read): http://bioshock.wikia.com/wiki/Rapture

Here's a summary :) :

1975, Beneath the Atlantic Ocean:

Twenty-four years have passed since the inauguration ceremony held in honor of the metropolis of Rapture, a city free of law and god. Much has changed since 1951: Mayor and industrial magnate, Andrew Ryan, has been murdered, and the destructive teachings of Sofia Lamb's "social experiment" have long died away. Their was a time when this city was all too beautiful, a true testimony to the triumph of the individual. But it was the self that saw its demise. The best and brightest built this city, and the best and brightest tore it down. But the time has come to rebuild, and the splicers can't do it alone; Rapture is in dire need of a hero, someone who will lead them to prosperity. And how the worthy have flocked! Mark Meltzer wasn't the only one who solved Lutwidge's riddles: others have followed the clues to what lies beneath the sea...

Rules:

1. NO GODMODDING! If you are unfamiliar with godmodding, you can find it under the roleplaying rules.

2. Please respect other players; that should go without saying.

3. I have a story planned, but if you want to contribute something or if you have general concerns or questions, I'm more than happy to answer through a private message.

4. All characters MUST be human. No Big Daddies or Big Sisters (you gotta draw the line somewhere), but you can be a little sister if you want to (note, you cannot use plasmids or offer any Adam, but you can wield weapons)

5. Two plasmids per character, so choose wisely!

6. You can have any weapon you choose, but please don't overdo it; your character shouldn't be invincible

7. The story begins in the Lighthouse; please allow me to post first so that I can get things rolling. In the meantime, spice up your character as much as you can!

8. Follow this character outline and remember to have fun! :

Name:

Are you a Betty or a Johnny? : We're talking about Gender

Nationality:

Age (No younger than ten, please):

Personality:

Specialty (what's your trade?):

History (this is where you should get creative! WHY is your character worthy of Rapture, the city built for the ablest minds of the planet? Make it interesting and have fun with it!) :

Discovery (This wasn't an accident; many have stumbled onto the lighthouse on the surface and didn't live to tell about it. They never made it below! You're better than that! You used your wit to find this place. So tell us: why were you different? Why did you survive?):

After the party: If you join after the meeting in the lighthouse, just make an introduction in the city. The same rules apply!

Name: Mel Pinkerton

Gender: Johnny

Nationality: American

Age: 42

Personality: Industrious and driven with a passion for machinery. Introverted, but a natural leader; follows his instincts and his heart.

Specialty: Robotics and rocketry

History: Never married, believing that love was for the ignorant who lacked a strong sense of self-worth. He’s a self-made man, building himself up from the dirt and founding one of the world’s leading corporations in robotics and groundbreaking technology. Mel was requested by NASA for his innovations in rocket propulsion, but refused the invitation when his ideas on extraplanetary colonization were deemed “too radical” by modern standards. Sickened by American law and its censorship on the individual, Mel contemplated on leaving the country for a society that valued ingenuity.

Discovery: Mel heard rumors about a man named Mark Meltzer who was investigating the kidnapping of innocent girls all around the world, and of his search for “true rapture”. Believing that a higher society existed among the human race, Mel set out to find it, learning of the ghostly “Frozen Triangle” west of Iceland. Mel braved the icy waves, infamous for its stories of mysterious disappearances. Despite the odds, he found the lighthouse, the gateway to his utopia.
