Dragonborn DLC letter from myself? To myself?

Spoilers -

So I helped Bujold the Unworthy and her crew take back the Thirsk Mead hall.

Then when she went to renew her blessing, got denied, we fought, I killed her.

Now I just received a letter from a courier, it is addressed to me AND from me.

My character's name is Thora de Explora. So I don't think it is just a co-inky-dink.

Without spoiling it too much for me - can you just tell me if this is part of the game or a bug in the signature of the letter???

Thanks!

LTK

my character's name is Thora de Explora. Letter text:

Thora de Explora,

You may or may not realize this, but by taking care of Bujold the Intrepid, you have indirectly helped me. Don't worry about how I know it was you, I won't be informing the authorities. But I would like to reward you for you efforts.

Please visit me at your earliest convenience.

- - Thora de Explora.

-------------------------- end letter text.

And I now have a misc Journal entry to go visit... myself. But no map marker.

That's an... interesting name.

Weird.

That letter you received has nothing to do with the Thirsk mead hall quest though.

It's part of a miscellanious quest called "An enemy's gratitude". See here for some more info: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:An_enemy%27s_gratitude

Looks like it just bugged out somehow. I'd recommend either loading a previous save before you got the letter or using console commands to finish the quest.

Thanks BlackRampage! :)

I thought it must be a bug of some sort - but I had also just started the "Side Effects" quest with the Telvani wizard on solesteim, and I know that I'm supposed to be fighting another Dragonborn on this island soon... so for a minute there, I wasn't sure how deep the rabbit hole was going. :)

Side note - my character uses storm/sparks/lightning a lot and an enchanted hammer renamed Mjolnir. Thus Thor-a.

And this is my first Elder Scrolls game so the Exploring part. :)

thanks!

Crazy!! - BUT - I figured it out!! - and thought it was interesting enough to share.

Multiple personalities it exactly right.

I had decided that this was just a bug and was just going to ignore it.

One more bugged out quest in my Journal that would never be resolved.

Last night, I had to travel back to Skyrim / Windhelm from Raven Rock for some supplies.

I forgot that I'd left the quest marker open for this - and when I opened up the map, to my surprise, I saw the white arrow pop up in Windhelm...

I hovered over it and it said "Receive your reward from Thora de Explora".

Kinda scarry.

Had someone replaced me while I was in Raven Rock??

Well, Months ago - I was playing around with the Alternate Actors mod - and then spawning new/ duplicate characters. I noticed that there is a "Thora de Explora" NPC. I don't know if the vanilla game has a copy of the player character or if that is something that a mod gave me.

BUT - while I was in the Temple of Talos in Windhelm, I did the "player.place at me " command and got a clone of my character in full Iron armor. I think I remember thinking "oh cool, I'll just leave her here and see what happens. Will she return to Breezehome? or just stay in the temple?"

Then I walked out the door, and over the next few months of playing, I never went back to the temple. To busy completing the various side quests, the civil war and Aldun. So I totally forgot about my doppelganger. She was lost to the ages.

Then I traveled to Raven Rock, and had my fight with Bjold.

I've also just started experimenting with the Creation Kit, and I made myself some "Boxing Gloves" that boost your unarmed damage. So I killed Bjold, and then spawned another Bjold and killed her too. - Side note - if you've never seen all the cool kill cams for an unarmed finishing move, you should check it out. You can supplex your opponent, choke them out etc.

So I did this for the better part of the evening. Creating new Bjolds, and then 2 on one and then worked up to 5 on one, and Thora killed them all, like a mighty Gladiator with her bare hands. (or gloves but what ever.) By the end of the night the mighty Thora was standing waist high in dead bodies.

So somewhere in all that, the game linked the relationship between Bjold, and Thora de Explora to the "Enemy's Gratitude" quest that BlackRampage noted.

So back in the present, I walked in to the Temple of Thalos, and met my Twin sister.

Still standing there in her bad ass Dovakin Iron armor and helmet.

And she paid me in gold for repeatedly killing a woman that she'd never met.

Case and Quest closed.
