Wrye Bash/Smash uncheck Skyrim.esm

Try updating to the latest version of NMM, which is 83.5 and see if that works. Although frankly I do not think your mod manager would have anything to do with your problem. I would check your version of Wrye Bash as that would be more likely to cause your problem.

NMM is no longer supported by NEXUS staff, there is, however, a community version, available on its github page.

I recently changed to Vortex from NMM, and it turns out, I do indeed like vortex. There really isn't an option for manually setting load order, but, the method they use (rules) works fairly well. It also loads faster than NMM.....

Wrye should NOT be unchecking masters, regardless of which version you are using.....

HeyYou is correct, Wrye Bash should not be unchecking masters regardless of what version of it you are using or what mod manager you are using.

I would google Wrye Bash Skyrim and go to the link that says Skyrim Nexus mods, not SSE mods. That will be the 309.1 version I believe,

For the latest NMM version I would use google once again and enter NMM github and you will get the link to the latest NMM version on github.

Perhaps it would help if you described exactly how you installed Wrye Bash and how you are running Wrye Bash? For instance, are you launching it through NMM, are you launching it through Wrye Bash.exe, have you put the Mopy in the correct location? What exactly do you mean when you say you "set up the Patch"? What steps are you performing to do so? Any and all information would be helpful.

I have been playing TES on 4 laptops for 12 years. LOOT then NMM, left open to maintain load order, then Wrye current 309.1 which deactivates Skyrim and Update in NMM upon opening, then TESlodgen.

I check all plugins in NMM, but when I select Wrye, it unchecks the masters 3 seconds later. My only solution is to check all in NMM just before I Rebuild Batch patch. I think this also happened in previous version of Wrye. TESlodgen shows no issue once it is done.

Since Modders are working on NMM, what are the improvements in NMM 83.5 that Players experienced?

Vortex support shows an unending list of Player issues.

Of course you must check the esm and plugins in the "plugins" side of NMM to make them active in your load order. If you do not none of your mod tools will consider them active.

The reason Wrye Bash unchecked your esm is because you did not have them checked in NMM. There is no need to leave either LOOT or NMM open when you run Wrye Bash. Actually that may be a problem, I really do not know as I have never done so'

LOOT and NMM are two different tools. LOOT, or Load Order Optimization Tool is a tool the sorts your load order. NMM, or Nexus Mod Manager is a mod manager in which you can download, install, and activate mods.

For a list of updates and fixes for NMM you would have to go to github and look for them there. To update NMM at the top right hand corner you will see five icons, the icon with two arrows in a circle will update NMM. What I do is go to github and download the update first to my mod tools>Legendary folder and then update NMM with the icon. This way if I have a problem I can always go back to an earlier version of NMM.

If you wish to learn more about Vortex there is a Vortex forum on Nexus in which you can get expert advice on Vortex about everything from installing the mod manager to downloading and installing mods and any problems you have with anything.

"The reason Wrye Bash unchecked your esm is because you did not have them checked in NMM." I have using NMM for 12 years. I check all, the list is all green, but soon as I merely touch Wrye, the list turns yellow within three seconds, plus Wrye or NMM tends to reorder the mod list as well, so I have manually place the plugins based on the saved modlist.txt.

I have been playing Skyrim for nine years and it is only in the last couple of weeks that Skyrim has ctd when I load any save.

The game, with a few buildings is vanilla, works until I click the door to enter Helgen, then ctd. I reload game, but every save include manual ctd. My modlist I had for at least eight years. It could be SKSE plugins that I added, S.M Editor and WRYE 309.1. This is just a process of elimination and I wonder if the ctd is caused by an incomplete LODgen.

I am currently rebuilding the modlist in NMM 83.5

If you mean the mod list in Wrye Bash if the mod has a yellow box it means that the masters have been reordered. That is easy enough to fix in TES5Edit. Neither NMM or Wrye Bash will make any changes to your load order unless you run LOOT through NMM. There is no mechanism, as far as I know, to cause either of those programs to make any changes to your load order when you launch them.

Have you launched Skyrim through Steam and checked Data just to make sure your esm and mods are checked in that?

How are you configuring your load order? Are you using LOOT to do so?

I do not understand what you mean by "click the door to enter Helgen." Do you mean when you follow Hadvar or Rolof in the intro?

Are you using skse to launch Skyrim? How do you start your game? Are you using the conventional start, riding in the cart into Helgen? Are you using an alternate start mod like Live Another Life?
