How would you add custom music to an existing mod?

Recommended Posts

New to actually posting here but i've had an absurdly difficult time trying to do something that seems like it should take 5 minutes maximum to do and I can't find a single relevant tutorial about it.

Basically, I've already downloaded a mod for a player home. It's great, I love it, and it would be perfect EXCEPT: It uses it's own custom music that just kinda... sucks. And I have ideas for more interesting tracks to play instead. I've already opened it up in SSEDIT and messed around trying to swap some tracks out for other songs but I'm not having any luck doing it. At best, I've managed to get it to play no music at all (which means I did something wrong but in the right ways at least).

So far, I've converted the songs I want to use to .wav and .xwm, i've tried using the same naming conventions as the original, i've tried replacing the original tracks by placing mine in the same folder with the same name in the hopes it would play mine instead (instead it plays nothing), but the real problem seems to be that the mod created it's own music type entirely and there's probably something I need to do to MY files first.

I've tried pulling the mod up in creation kit but since I upgraded to AE it just hasn't been working right (it's also been months since the last time I touched it, so it might not be related).

Can this even be done? Or am I out of luck?
