FNIS vs Nemesis

When I was not looking; Nemesis popped up as a FNIS replacement.

FNIS, on the other hand, is well integrated into Vortex. One problem is that Fore retired from modding.

So: do we stay with what is considered the obsolete FNIS but well integrated with Vortex,

Or switch to Nemesis, which has no apparent Vortex integration,

Or use both - since there are some animations FNIS does not handle, and others that Nemesis does not handle.

If Nemesis is in the mix - how will that work with Vortex?

I did start working on Nemesis integration, but I needed the devs to add CLI parameters to offer the same integration as FNIS. I don't believe they are actively working on the app anymore so I'm not sure if/when that will get done.

Thanks Picky.

But that leaves what do we do about today?

Stick with FNIS until we hear differently?

(That is fine with me - all my animations work, but if users are switching to Nemesis - we will be getting "interesting" problems)

Ultimately, you can use Nemesis if you want to but there are two caveats:

  • You can't manage the outputs with Vortex as Nemesis puts all new files in the data folder directly.
  • You will have to manually collect up the output files and create a mod for them if you want different sets of animation data for different profiles.

  • 1 month later...

Output is the issue really especially as Nemesis doesn't even tell you what files its generated nor where its put them

My solution for this is... use MO2 and fish the files out of the Overwrite folder and the same applies for other tools that do similar. Not ideal.
