Oblivion: Mod Stops Working Upon Death

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have recently started a new playthrough of Oblivion and since I have played through it so many times in vanilla, I decided to get some mods to improve the experience.

I didn't go overboard, I have a few graphic mods, Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul and thats about it.

The issue arise when I decided to enchant the 'Herder's Crook', a staff from within the Maskar Overhaul mod which I assume is tied to the Staff Overhaul mod which is part of the mod bundle. I realised that upon death the enchantment I had put on it had been removed. I also installed the Staff Overhaul as a separate mod after this as a remedy to gain access to unenchanted staffs to enchant but the issue still persisted.

In the console, it seems to say this:

EH: Updated values from ini file in data\ini\. (when I first enchant the staff)
Staff OVerhaul initalized using values from data\DS Staff Overhaul.ini
EH:Updated values from ini file in data\ini\. (when I died and upon reloading the staff is no longer enchanted)

In the case of the Staff Overhaul being installed as a separate mod the console reads bring up degree of error messages and failures to read.

I find it strange that in none of the programmes, OBMM, Vortex, WyreBash or OBSE there is a conflict in mods or files, which is leading me to be extremely confused as to why this is happening.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

I only know that custom enchants can get deleted from items if you clean the save game with Wrye bash, Remove bloat option. Enchants are a form of bloat technical speaking. To make sure my enchants never gets deleted, I make the exact same enchant and put it at the same type of Items with CS and that way, it is no longer a bloat as it is a real object. We should continue enchanting in game for sure and also remove bloats with Wrye. So if something like this happen, do make a copy of your staff in CS and make sure you char has access to it.

It is a workaround that might kill some immersion but still, it will guarantee you a staff you like to use.
