Is it possible to use a Splitscreen mod with the PM IA character mods?

I want to go into Versus mode and use, say the Viper Probe Droid, and my brother be something like Rebel Friend. However, each time I try to use a PM IA character mod with a Splitscreen mod, the game crashes once we enter the character select screen (it is fine on the Collection menu). I there a way to do it, or am I stuck with character replacers?
