Item duplicator for Xbox and ps4 needed for Mod items.

Hello, Just wanted to start off with a disclaimer that this mod request is for a concept that only really effects, and would benefit, console players.

Basically the concept of item duplication doesn't exist on console.

There is an Item duplicator chest mod that no longer works on console. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/51322

I understand this concept sounds like a mute point if you're considering using duplication for cheat purposes like money making or gear duplicating. There are plenty of cheat room like mods that can spawn in any Vanilla in game item as many times as you want.

That's sadly not the reason why I'm making this request. A item duplicator is needed for console mods for the sake of modded content, not Vanilla content.

Console Fallout 4 player can't open console commands and it doesn't look that going to ever be a thing (8 years after release). This means that console players can't just spawn in a mod item they've installed. People who make mods for xbox have to spawn them into the world in a chest somewhere and leave instruction on how to find them. The problem is that leaves only one set of said mod item and no way to get a second.

A simple duplication method would fix this. Currently, console players best hope are ingame bugs and glitches that are difficult and crash the game regularly. My limited knowledge of modding tells me that the solution to this would ridiculously simple aslong as the process for uploading to xbox or ps4 isn't something that complicates things. Obviously, the method would have to work with modded in content. As i understand it, each modded item has a kind of ID tag that would plug into console commands to spawn a new one. Some method of reading that "tag" off an already owned modded item and then spawning an addition version (maybe through that same command line, but activated through ingame action) would work perfectly.

In my case, I recently realized you could put a companion in power armor. All these years i thought Paladin Danse was the only one. I have a set of modded power armor I'd like to share with a companion, but sadly I only have the one. I see this same problem expressed by people in duping glitch videos comments.

Thank you for reading. Sorry if you're a mod deleting this cuz of something i didn't understand about the rules. It would be appreciated if I'm just an moron who over looked something and you wanted to point that out. Feel free to ask questions, I'm on a fallout binge and will check back regularly.

I had to look this up. Per one of the Developers, a Mr. Hines, console commands are not added in to the game decks. Apparently he even tries to talk PC users out of using it.

I think it would be pretty easy, create a container, add a script to it to scan contents, then duplicate content's items by X. X being the number to create.

I however dunno scripting for Fallout 4. I also do not have a console to test it with.

I also dunno if the new script is allowed under Sony's "No new assets" rule or not. I don't "think" that it is, but I wouldn't know for sure.

That said.

This is primarily a PC gaming site. I dunno if you have tried on discords, bethesda.net, or reddit. But that may have some better takers to the idea from people that can implement it.

Wow. Just ... wow. I didn't know that part.

Not a single hair on my body ever even entertained the idea of buying a PS (4 or 5) but if I did, this would make sure I still wouldn't.

Doesn't Sony wish to sell that stuff or what?

Its a stupid rule, crippling the console version even further. For what?

I see absolutely no reason for such idiotic rule!

... and the script would be obsolete, even if allowed. As it is meant to duplicate modded in assets, which isn't allowed in the first place.

Yeah. Sony is pretty draconian with their rules about their decks. (Btw, it's Their deck, not Your deck... per their way of thinking!) But yeah. When I first discovered FO4 I was staying at a friend's house, and that's what he had. PS4. I spent quite a while on Beth's forums reading left and right about how Sony doesn't allow anything but vanilla assets in mods.

It gets better.

They only allow a load order of 100 mods. And less mod disk space than xbox to boot. I think xbox has a 150 mod limit, and something like 2 gigs of disk space.

Duplicating mod assets isn't allowed either? THAT I didn't know! So definitely thanks for the valuable trade of information!

RC-Lazz (OOPS! SORRY about that!) Ugh. With that bit of information, it sounds like such a mod would very quickly get removed, as from RoNin's info, it would violate Sony's TOS :verymad: :verymad:

I did mean modded in new assets. But then it does come down to what would be regarded as such.

If I take an existing asset and swap its textures for another existing one to create something 'new' is that allowed?

What if only the texture is new, or I copy the nif and do the swap there, what if I only delete part of the mesh?

I honestly don't know how strict they are when it comes to "no new assets", but in some way all of these examples are.

RoNin - Essentially, basically, their rule is Vanilla Assets ONLY. So if you changed said item to use a different vanilla asset, it's ok by them. If the mod adds a custom made asset/texture, that has to be included with, and DL'd along with the mod, They Say Nay.

Now, however, say that I knew how to mash up nifs, and I created a mod that changed the coordinates for different weapon parts. (along the same principle as Wacky Weapons Workshop). That's ok. It's all the vanilla meshes, but with differing coordinates set to them. Essentially only changing their settings.

However, if I tweak the mesh of one of the scopes, and try to add that to the mod, They Say Nay.

I totally agree. I would not ever, ever, ever purchase Sony products (Except maybe some of their camera equipment, but that's a whole different division of the company). Not that I harbor any ill-will against those that do. But yeah. Their rules about a lot of things, and the way they handle a lot of things, and a lot of the things that they DO, I'll NEVER support them.
