I don't exactly know how to put this into words or how to explain this appropriately without the use of several dozen curses, but the best way I can describe what this latest update to vortex is that someone done and gone goofed the heck out of it.

I'm not savvy enough with software and computers in general to grasp fully what is going on, but this feels like we just got served a big pile of garbage and told this was a fine 3 Michelin Star meal.

If you don't know how to properly describe or understand the notion of what it is you're complaining about, just don't complain at all. Especially out to a sea of the public who haven't been given enough description to properly discuss, agree, or contest your argument, which is basically immaterial.

you also seem to be not savvy enough to actually describe whatever your issue is.

i have a strong suspicion based on zero evidence that PEBCAK could be a contributor here. I may be wrong, but you never know.

 

Anyway, the silver lining to your cloud is that Vortex is completely open source, so go right ahead, fork it and fix it. Let us know when you're done. Thanks.

okay guys, I love how the first thing you do is attack me on my lack of knowledge and understanding of what is going on after I specifically state that I have a lack of knowledge and understanding. To me, that just sounds like elitism and a Reddit Attitude.

As a side-note, who or what is this PEBCAK? If you believe I'm some sort of troll, look at the age of my account and you will note that it is quite old, a decade old or close to such. I had never needed to post on the forums before because nothing like this had happened now. I was perfectly satisfied with the product until this Boondoggle happened.

By some miracle of Bumbles-Stumbling, I managed to return my Vortex application to a level of function, at least with New Vegas. I'll figure out how to fix my other Bethesda games when I will want to run them.

Also, to the person who mentioned it, yes, I appeared to have been on the Beta, which I now remember I had been switched to automatically after a previous update. I may or not have managed to return to a stable version, in accordance to the prior mentioned bumble-stumbling, and may have had a part in returning my software to a degree of function.

for those I have offended with my lack of technical and scholarly knowledge, I would like you to know that I am sincerely sorry, both for your lack of manners as well as my own suspension of disbelief that people still had disdain for individuals who lack college and university degrees.

I guess in the end, you showed me my place in the world and I'll most likely never post on this forum ever again if you two are average users of these forums and this is the average response I'm going to get even after being upfront about the topic at hand.

pebcak - problem exists between computer and keyboard - human error - you decided for whatever reason that, you would change vortex from stable to beta - you did that - yourself.

if you dont want beta software why are you in the beta channel, then complaining when it has bugs?

 

i'd also ask you - what do you think your post contributed to the problem? you're calling people out for their responses but your opening post leaves so much to be desired, unless your intent was to try and shame someone for doing work?

imagine if you were doing your day job to the best of your ability and then some no-mark passer by comes by and shits all over your efforts with no idea of what you do or how hard you work to do it. How would that make you feel?

 

you offered nothing here except a post full of snarky entitlement and you got shot down for that. nothing else.
