Genuine feedback/request for vortex.

I have been using vortex for a long while now, and In general I like it for the boat load of features that it comes with it out of the box. The purpose of this post is to provide feedback and to provide a sort of "wish list" of features that I would think would be a good addition to the program.

 

I recently had to restore windows, and luckily my vortex mods were still there. The fix missing id's ability is a nice touch that saved me a-lot of headache, but I think there should be a "fix all id's" tool somewhere. It felt a bit silly that I had to click on each of my 200 mods to check for the missing id's. A similar function would be nice for calculating mod size for sorting.

 

When checking for updates in vortex. It would be better if a prompt popped up asking the user which mods (if any) that they would like to update. Rather than blindly updating any outdated mods. There might be a reason a user would be using an outdated version of a mod.

 

I tried to keep this a short and sweet as possible. If anyone on the Vortex team happens upon this I appreciate the hard work you have done. Thank you for reading. If these features already exist and I overlooked them please leave a comment.

Suggestions for features are best entered through Vortex.

Open Vortex, click upper right three dots, select Send feedback.

This way your feature request will actually be responded to, and not simply age off into oblivion.

if you select all your mods - at the bottom there is an option to bulk "guess id's" which will do as you asked in one of your suggestions.

in checking for updates - by default all mods are checked - however if you don't want that or don't care you have choices.

1. right click a mod you don't care about - select ignore update.

2. click any mod(s) you want to check for update - you can select more than one in the same way you can select more than one thing in windows - at the bottom check for updates for your selected mods is available - done.

3. a while ago i asked for the estimated mod size to be an option - click the cog icon top right - select the mod size column. voila.

For your first point, you can select all items in the mods table with Ctrl + A, then click the "Fix missing IDs" option on the new toolbar that appears at the bottom. I'll agree some of the multi-select options in the table aren't as clear as they could be.

 

For the second point, I'm not sure what you mean? Your updates aren't downloaded automatically it will just tell you which mods need one. You can ignore them (or use my extension to remove the UI flag). You can also double click the mod and change the source to something other than "Nexus Mods" to prevent update checks from running at all.
