Trouble unstalling any mod. Instant CTD on launch.

Hello!

So i came past a huge problem with the nexus mod manager.

When i uninstall any mod and try to relaunch the game (skse) i get instant CTD.

This happens with every mod i uninstall so (I presume) It's not a bug coming with a specific mod. When i install the uninstalled mod and try to launch the game again, it works perfectly fine.

The game still loads the uninstalled mod's .esp file but since the .esp is not there, i get an instant CTD.

I really need a solution since i'm running much heavy scripted like Frostfall, Better Vampires and many other overhauls.

Also: I noticed saving and loading takes much longer and all this began to happen after i installed Oblivian and added it to the Nexus mod manager.

The .esp is also not showing in the load order (In both the mod manager and skyrim launcher)

So i can't deactivate the .esp manually either.

When i run the TESEDIT 3.0.31 i get a error message saying:

[00:10] Background Loader:<mod file> Loading file

[00:10] Background Loader: Fatal: <EOSError: System Error. Code: 2.
The system cannot find the file specified>
[01:13] Background Loader: finished
If anyone can tell me where to find error logs, i'll post those aswell.

How do i fix this?

Running BOSS and resetting Skyrim .ini files (in My Games) don't help.

Temporarily Solution:

Uninstalling every mod using the Uninstall all active mods option in NMM. Then Reinstalling every mod.

Solution:

The problem had to do with the skyrim Reproccer patch generator. After running the .jar file i didn't get any CTD on startup anymore.

Thanks for all the reply's and hope this will sorve other people's problems asswell.

This was because i had ReProccer - Automated SkyRe patch generator installed. It mastered some files over other files.

Deleting those master caused the CTD. Running the patch generator with the Master-mod uninstalled makes it a non-master files again.

Thanks,

id have loved to help out, but i install everything by hand... hope youll figure that out.

edit: with 250 mods... could it be that by coincidence some share ressources, and when you delete that one, the other one says "No way", and ctd?

A crash on start up almost always means you're missing a master file. You shouldn't crash just because your game can't find an .esp file. If you uninstall a mod, even with it saved into your save file, the game will still run, you'll just get an error saying something like "a file is missing, some stuff might not load. continue?" BUT! If you're missing an .esm that is required by one of your .esps, or a file that a mod has a dependency on, that's when you generally get involuntarily planted back at your desktop.

So, if you've recently uninstalled a mod, check to make sure you uninstalled anything else that might require that mod's files (i.e. patches, add-ons, etc.)

and/or... if you're using Wyre (highly recommend) look for any files that are RED (missing masters), or check the color of the mods listed on your save to see what it is that might be giving you trouble :smile:

@RyanBurnsRed

I wanted to uninstall mods so i would have less scripts running at the same time. unchecking esp's might work but will not reduse scripts (correct me if i'm wrong!)

@chicky540

can be true, it might have to do with Skyrim redone and reproccer since those use many master files. but im not sure .

@missjennabee

all files should be completely deleted since i always use NMM to mod. Also i'll take a look at Wyre.

Just FYI, NMM doesn't always 100% remove a mod. Some mods, write additional folders and scripts into your game in addition to what you installed once you start playing. There's been a few times where I've found holdovers from deleted mods in my files. I don't think any of them ever caused CTDs when I tried starting up the game though.

Yes, when you uninstall some mods there will be scripts left. that that's only for the savefiles.
