Custom Birthsign + Class+ Spells, Based on Rats

Hello! I've had this idea for a while now but the scripting/construction set side is beyond my skillset. I'd be doing the creative aspect (descriptions, names, basically all of the writing) and you'd be doing the technical aspects (construction set/scripting). I've got most of the artwork done and formatted but would probably need help scripting it to appear properly in menus and such.

The mod is for a new The Rat birthsign, as well a Verminkind / Plaguebound / Rat Cultist / Worshipper class (not sure on the name yet), and spells related to summoning/charming/turning rats and creating a rat mount. Summoning rats and a rat mount are already mods, so there's probably a basis for scripting in those. Not sure where/how the spells would be learned, maybe a Dark Brotherhood merchant, or Thieves' Guild, or added to certain loot tables. I'd also like to have some disease and illness-based magic but that's not a priority.

I hope this sounds interesting to someone, I'd love to collaborate and make this a reality. Thanks in advance! I'll post what I have drafted as far as descriptions and such, just so you have an idea.

Birthsign: The Rat

Those born under the Rat can use the Verminkind power once a day to conjure a swarm of three rats to assist them. It also confers a permanent bonus of +5 to their Personality and Intelligence attributes.

Class: Verminkind / Plaguebound / Rat Cultist / Worshipper

Religious zealots beholden to the ideal that a deadly scourge will rid the world of famine, poverty, and war.

Attributes: Personality, Intelligence

Skills: Alchemy, Blade, Conjuration, Illusion, Mercantile, Mysticism, Speechcraft

There's also some attached images of what I'd like to use for the artwork for the Birthsign, not sure about the class yet.

I think it is a nice idea, not a birthsign that fits my playstyle as I use the Thief and I like that one.

I will not make the mod for you, but I am good at writing tutorials and that is what I can offer you, as you will also learn how to use CS and also pick up some scripting. Most commands and functions that we use in the Oblivion script language do make sense when you read it, well compared to Skyrim at least. I am learning Skyrim Scripting myself right now with help of experienced Modders and without their help, I would not understand at all how Skyrim really works, so be happy this is Oblivion. :D So far I have full control in oblivion, after many years modding it + Morrowind from 2004-2008, 2020-2022 and I also think I am very pedagogic and can make tutuorials that will be easy to follow with included pictures and if needed also a video or 3.

So far, No one have picked up my offer in this Request Forum. Will you be the first one? Honestly, I do not understand why everyone turn down my offer really... if you want something bad, you really make sure to get it or make it. That is how I make my stuff.

If I will use a mod that is requested, I will most likely make it. I did got a request to make something similar to the Stall in Skyrim for Oblivion, so that is what I am doing right now.

My rferences:

WIP, The Champions Mercandises.

My biggest mod project so far: the Legacy of the Champion

I do think no scripting is needed at all really. If it is needed, well not much, just a tiny script I guess, but it all depends on what you wanna have included. If you like the Rat mount, do check out if you can use it in the Authors Permissions. If he say not, contact him and ask for permission to use it. Some modders do forget to change the default setting which is NO!! Or ask for permission, well whatever. You cannot use it with the default setting for sure.

You can also make your mod as an addon to the RAT mount mod, and that way, you need no ones permissions but your mod will require that Rat Mod to work. If you get the permissions, we need to move it to you mod and that can be a bit tricky, depending on which animations are used. I can try to make a tutorial for that as well, otherwise I can add it to your mod. The ordinary animations will be added per auto when you load that mesh into the mount object but it is the Idle animations that are a bit tricky to install. I would prefer if you do it from my future tutorial, but if we cannot get it to work, I do it. Well honestly, it is not that hard to do really. The hardest part for me was to find where the Idle animations where stored at all in CS... From a bloody pull down menu. :D

So lets take one step in a time. First step is that you say: -YES!!! I want to learn CS and I want to make this mod... Not everything is fun when making a mod. But the result is also a carrot in it self. This mod was mostly extremely boring to make so it took me 2 years to complete it, back and forth, forcing my self to do it. So Tedious and boring :D First version released 2006, a week before Oblivion came out. But the result was amassing honestly. It was included in the Video, Best Morrowind Dungeons 2017 and that video is at the DL page as well. :D He also whined about some bugs I did fix 2020.

I do hope you will find CS editing fun. It is mostly. It is me that are lazy when it comes to repeat boring stuff. Placing 2000 mushrooms in a tube was not fun... I do feel it is extremely satisfying when I felt I was able to make the stuff I made, no matter what it is really, mods, carpentry, making stuff in steel or whatever, designing...

Well I know what you mean. it is easy for me to fiddle around modding a lot, as I do not have a job right now.

I will be away for 3 days, so make a reply here on Sunday/Monday as a reminder and we get started on Monday. If you wanna test CS any during the weekend, do take a peek at some tutorials at https://cs.elderscrolls.com/ but it is not necessary really. I do think you made the right decision for sure, to try this out.

Do you have Gimp or Photoshop or DXTBMP installed? DXTBMP is a very small and neat program that can save anything into dds.

If you use Gimp or Photoshop, I can link the plugins you need for making DDS files. Those 2 png you linked to, needs to be saved as DDS.
