Hi guys, i'm getting a new PC and I made a combination. But I really am terrible at the knowledge of electrical devices.I really want to maximize the performance I get but I ofcourse have a budget and this PC is at the limit of it. What are your opinions, what do I need to change? Can I play Skyrim with 100 mods & ENB? Please explain it as you are explaining it to a 2 year old monkey because thats the ammount of knowledge I've got, cheers :)

ENB is not well optimized so I use RCRN 2.1.

i5-4670k and HD7950 is more than enough for +122 mods and RCRN (as I'm running one atm with 3570k+7950).

The PSU is overkill as a good 550W is enough, like XFX 550W.

 

More importantly, are you going to overclock? If not, you can just go cheapskate and take H87 fatal1ty mobo and Xeon 1230v3 CPU. Xeon is i7-4770 without iGPU.

And also tell which monitor you are using (1080p, riiight?).

 

You can use the saved cash to get GTX770 or one of the new AMD cards.

Scrap that, use the money to buy an SSD (120gb or more). Install Skyrim and windows on it, the (modded) Skyrim loading times are plain silly with traditional HDD.

 

And here are statistics for overall GPU performance, CPU is only bottlenecking if you get 2x R9 290X.

But as i said, i dont even know what PSU stands for and what do you mean "overkill"

 

I have HP w1907v 1400x900 monitor

 

By the way i was away from skyrimnexus for at least 8 months because my skyrim (obviously with 100 mods) melted my graphics card, so i'm hearing RCRN for the first time. Why is it better than ENB?

 

---Edit--- Oh its realistic colors and real nights, i used to have that too because my rig coudnt handle ENB very well at that time

I don't think they have that card here :/ They only have hd7970 in the same price range. What is an SSD??

I have 750W PSU (power supply) that I'm going to use for 2x HD7950 crossfire. Taking 750W for a single GPU rig... yeah, overkill in my eyes as your PC will never draw more than 400W of power.

 

So your monitor is not even FullHD... Personally I see no point in plugging a high-end GPU like GTX670 to a monitor with that low resolution.

And it also lowers your vram usage so the 4gb GTX670 model goes to waste.

 

I would recommend HD7950 GPU as from what I see the GTX670 is 100$ more expensive.

 

Can you link a shop where you are going to buy the parts... I can use any shop to find the best parts, be it European or American.

Woah those prices are high... I ordered my parts from Germany (to Finland) because the local prices were 20% higher than in Germany, but those prices are at a level of their own.

EDIT: Well at least the discount products have sane prices. Some of the normal prices were distracting (GTX670 580€ etc.)

 

From little bit of digging:

i5-4670k (Because the difference is minimal if you just want to play games)

Keep the original motherboard you chose

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cooler (to replace the stock cooler of 4670k. Can be overclocked this way and it's more quiet. This is optional though)

Samsung 840 EVO 120gb SSD

Corsair CX 600W Power Supply (not happy at all, but best what I could dig up)

ASUS HD7950 DirectCU II TOP (If it's voltage unlocked, you can go crazy with overclocks. My Windforce runs at 1150MHz which brings it to 7970GHz level)

And as an optional GPU if you want nvidia, GTX760.

Caviar Blue is good HDD

2x4gb RAM of 1600mhz and 1.5v (voltage).

 

How much will you save in % with those changes? You won't see any difference in gaming performance compared to your original suggestion.

Plus you get an SSD that will make your PC ride the lightning.

I would go with the Asus windforce model 7950. though overclocking it to that level is almost impossible. With gcn mantle on its way i would go with radeon.

And that clock rate of yours is impressive. But warning to you, enb the radeon 7950's have issues with enb, you would at max if it was a heavy quality enb would have problems hitting 30fps. Depending how many mods you have, if anything i would go with the Nvidia model or the new amd r200 models out now.

Actually I have 2x 7950 windforces (in different PCs) and both of them can reach 1125MHz easily. The other one can even run 1200MHz at 1.25v (haven't tested how far I can go with 1.3v).

Nowadays I run them at 1125MHz because I'm too lazy to remove the little bit of dust that raises the temperatures. I like to keep the temps at 70C.

Hey mind giving us a catalyst screenshot, i would like to see how you pulled it off, amazing :thumbsup: What program did you use for overclocking, the catalyst only maxes out at 1 ghz.

If i could get my 2 gigabyte windforce editions that high, might tie me over until i could afford the r290x :D
