Can't bash with bows or crossbows

Somewere in my mod-adding, I must've dun goofed. I was trying out some mod crossbows, tried to bash off some guards, but the bash didn't work. I figured, "eh, it's probably this particular modded crossbow, I can live with it".

 

But I was wrong. I started a new character just today, and tried to bash with an early acquired vanilla hunting bow. Didn't work now either.

 

What do? I've modded my Skyrim to Hell and back again, no way am I re-installing and putting every single mod in one by one.

You could post your mod list. No one can diagnose the problem on that little info. And make sure it's in the load order you are using.

How do I post the mod list the easiest? I could run BOSS and printscreen bit by bit, but it'd take forever.

 

Shouldn't there be a document somewhere among the folders that shows tha complete list in load order?

Well, I don't know if it's causing your problem or not... but you have a few in there that you should at least get the compatibility patches for.

 

There are also two or three listed that show missing navmeshes, and the recommendation for the other unofficial patches too.

 

Also, if you 'bash' does the 'hit' register? You might have replaced the animation or something of the sort without realizing it. I think the actual hit would still register without the animation, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Well, I tried the missing animation theory. I got up really close to a guy and hit the bash button, but he carried on as usual.

 

What would you recommend me to do? Should I get all the recommended mods and patches individually? The cleaning part is a lot of reading to do, so I'll find the time to read it when I feel like it. Unless someone would be a scholar and give me a shorter step-by-step guide for it.

You should definitely patch (you can just click the links in boss to do so). I have a number of dirty edits myself, but none with missing meshes. Missing meshes could lead to issues if they're actually placed in the game somewhere or you craft/console them in. I'm not sure on those, since I don't know what's missing etc.

 

 

Okay so bashing isn't just an animation missing. The only other thing I can recommend is going into the last mod on your list or making a fresh mod in the CK and go through, check all the bows and make sure their bash data is there. You have a number of mods and I don't think anyone other then you will really know what all of them do.

 

You could -try- shutting off all mods and activate them one at a time until the problem occurs buuuuuut.... you could potentially cause CTDs on your save and such, so I'd definitely say to make a backup save before you start trying to find the needle in the haystack.
