Would a Parkour or Freerunning mod be possible in Skyrim?

If that were possible somehow, that would be absolutely AWESOME! How that'd be done is a mystery to me if it's even possible at all. Like Mirror's Edge or the up and coming Dying Light or something to that effect or something unique altogether(although as far as I know those two games are 2 of a kind but that's irrelevant lol). Or at least the ability to wall run and/or jump or even grabbing a ledge. A world of props if anyone could pull that off somehow! *_*

Well I'm pretty sure that'd involve essentially coding freerunning game architecture over all of Skyrim. It's certainly "possible", but it's not something anyone would want to put the time into doing. First off, Skyrim doesn't really have the right environments for free running (free running off of rocks? yeah right), and second off, the work required would be insanely ginormous.

Adding just a few tiny things might be doable, but would still be insanely difficult. Games with free running in them were coded that way from the get go... I just don't see this happening.

There is, however, a mod that adds a backflip animation for when you jump backwards. Search it.

Well, as a start, I recommend installing Open Cities Skyrim. This removes the limitation of "interior city cells".

Now, while I'm not sure about the actual moves that a free-runner uses, I'm sure the cities could be re-decorated a bit (with open cities compatibility of course) so that it would be easier to move about.

I honestly want to see something like this, though. I'd love my assassins to be able to maneuver along rooftops, jumping from building to building, never catching the eyes of the guards as they slip through the night like a shadow itself.

  • 1 year later...

an issue i am seeing with a mod like this (though i would really love it if it really existed) is the noclip boundaries, in a lot of areas that were thought to be unreachable you tend to noclip through the ground and fall endlessly or at least under the map... having a parkour mod would grant access to areas otherwise unreachable and this could lead to many glitches.

@AlduinWorldEater:

If you take the time to do it, you can actually get on the roofs of every building in Whiterun... and with Whirlwind sprint you can get from building-to-building.

I was hoping not to shout...kinda defeats the stealth class build.
