Tips For Making Your Own Mods?

Sorry about the bad title, it may be confusing.

I often find I spend more time modding then actually playing my game. So I though maybe it would be fun to make my own mods, I need a new hobby to fill my time as gaming itself is starting to get a bit dull.

I was wondering how I would go about getting started. Any programs , websites, guides, anything I might need. Really just anything to help me get started making my own mods. I have not the slightest clue on how to get started.

And there are plenty of threads with the same question, so here we go again.

Creation Kit and Tutorial Stickies in the Mod Talk section, will keep you busy for weeks/months.

3D modeling: Blender (free) or 3DsMax with nif plugin, Cinema4d, Maya

Texturing/Sculpting: Scultpris (free), Mudbox, zBrush

Image editor for texturing: Gimp (free) or Photoshop with Nvidia dds plugin

tools: Nifskope, FO3 Archive Utility

...there are plenty other tools around as well, but these are the most common ones.

Most important skill you need: the ability to work autonomous - that's what most people lack

Tutorials: google, youtube, sticky threads, creation kit wiki
