Hey everyone I'm back with yet another bug! so recently I have been messing around with some lighting mods and I'm not sure what happened but I am getting a lighting bug similar to these two videos

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTQkMUUeKqQ

and

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8Rr1sumW-M

I have mainly seen them inside and when it comes to fires such as candles, torches, fires, etc. It is rather annoying.

The main lighting mods I am using are Climates of Tamriel, Realistic Lighting Overhaul, and ELFX. I have some things disabled such as all interiors for CoT, and RLO dungeons. yet I still keep getting flickering. If I could get some help with this so I can go back to a non flickery (Is that even a word?...who knows...) Skyrim. Thanks guys!

This just means you've just got too many lights. There is actually a limit (4) to how many Skyrim will execute at a time in an area. So if you've got 6 different lights within a room, only 4 will be on at a time, the others will flick on and off (as seen in that video) depending on your proximity to them.

It could be that a single mod you are using has put too many lights in one spot, or that the combination of mods you are using collectively put too many lights in one spot.

ELFX used to have this problem (at least it did a year ago), and I see that you are using it, so it could be that... although, again, I can't say whether or not the issue with that mod specifically has since been resolved. Try deactivating it and see if the light flickering persists, if you does, you'll know it's another mod, if it doesn't then you've found your culprit.

Hope this helps!

I did indeed disable it to see if it helped. It did, however it only lessens the flickering effect. I have no idea what mod it is and I have tried disabling many lighting mods but it is still there.

Try to uninstall (not just disable) any light-adding mods that you might be using. Not so much things like Climates of Tamriel (which doesn't actually ADD any lights), but things like Realistic Lighting Overhaul, ELFX, any others you might. Run the game with them completely uninstalled, confirm that the flickering is gone, and then re-introduce them one at a time.

Meaning, install one, load game, check for flickering. If there isn't any, install the next, load game, check for flickering. Rinse and repeat.

Sounds like a huge enormous pain (and it is!) but it's probably going to be the easiest way to track the problem down. Like I said, it might not be just ONE mod, it could be multiple mods adding lights to the same room are just tipping it over the edge.

Also if I look at a forge for example the angle will make the coals brighter or warmer if that makes any sense. It seems to me like two lighting mods are fighting for which light is shown?

Yes, it could be that exactly. If two different mods are putting two different lights there, and those lights are (again) putting it over the 4 limit, they'll flick on and off depending on your perspective, making it look warmer/cooler based on whichever light is "lit" at the time. It could also be that you've only got one light there, which is putting it over said limit, and the light is flicking on and off making it APPEAR to be warmer (on) and cooler (off).

But either way, yes lol. Aaaaany time you see a light flicking like that, it's a TOO MANY LIGHTS!! problem.

Hi kaam14 ;)

I don't like to write that but you really need to read the descriptions befor installing any mod :)

"As of 4.0.7 This mod (RLO) is no longer compatible with Enhanced Lights and FX"

Additional its like missjennabee mentioned:

Its a game engine limitation: If there are more than 4 lightsources on any mesh (object) you get those flickering.

Hope you get solved your issues ;)

If I reinstalled the loose files version of CoT (which I think might be it) and then the loose files of the other lighting mods could whatever needs to be overwritten be overwritten or would that not solve anything? I'll still post my load order and mods list before I do anything though.
