Welcome to New Sorpigal.

Alastriona hated this gods-be-damned town. Ever since Falagar had teleported them here after the attack on Sweet Water, she had hated the place. It was a boring and backwater - yet oddly stuck-up - little place filled with wannabes.

The sorceress adjusted the dagger on her hip and tapped the message scroll in her hand against her thigh as she walked down the cobbled road to the main gate. Looking back at her comrades, she smirked, "Andover Potbello. That's who this thing goes to. And I thought I had a bad name."

Sven strayed near the back of the group, finding himself staring at the odd tree on the side of the cobbled street. He pretended to smile at Ali's comment about the man's name. Better to be on the good side of his group, even if he didn't particularly like her attitude. She reminded him too much of the snobby upper-class girls he was forced to play with as a child.

He stayed on the edges of the group, but liked quieter company, as it meant he had to talk less. However, not being sure what to say, he blurted, "What do we do now?"

He immediately felt stupid and shrunk farther back from the group, adjusting his quiver on his shoulder.

"Now now Ali, as I've said many times your name isn't anything to be ashamed of." Said Kelon the Paladin. "I think it has a rather unique flair to it. But to each his own. "So where is this Andover anyways? Were we given any directions to the man or are we to search high and low for him?" He said stepping off of the rock wall which he had been leaning up against. He looked down at the "main street" of the town if it could be called that, and looked at the few villagers going about their business. "Green and blue really are popular colors here it seems." He said under his breath, mentioning the locals clothing.

Jenendiah stayed a step or two back from everyone else, much like Sven, and looked around anxiously. He felt the reassuring weight of his old woodcutter's axe tucked into his belt as he glanced at the town. He didn't much know who this Andover fellow was, but he wasn't looking forward to standing around and doing nothing. Better to get this over with.

"Might as well get it done with." He voiced his thoughts timidly. "Faster we do this the faster all this business is over."

Ali snorted at Kelon's remark, then replied, "No idea. The old man just said 'New Sorpigal,' which could mean anywhere between here and Ironfist village. Though if I had to guess, I'd say this Potbelly fellow is probably at the tavern. All we do is show him the seal, and then he'll give us whatever money he was going to give to that traitor, Sulman. Sounds like a nice way to cheat those who betrayed the king, yes?"

Glancing to Sven, the sorceress added, "And then we're off to Castle Ironfist to deliver this to Regent Humphrey. That is, unless something else happens to attract our attention along the way. Which I'm almost certain it will..."

She trailed as they entered the gates and found themselves being gawked at by half the populace.

"To the Lonely Knight we go then." Kelon said as he started towards the inn which was less than twenty feet away from the small stone wall.

Upon entering the small Tavern Kelon took a quick look around. It was nearly empty save for a few locals up at the bar, the waitress, and a surly looking fellow sitting down at a table by himself.

Figuring that he was the contact Kelon approached and bowed to the man. "Good morning sir. You wouldn't happen to be Andover would you? I believe me and my companions have a letter for you?"

The cowled man looked up at the stranger approaching him and squinted. "Baa, friend, I...er..." he then noticed the scarlet-robed sorceress standing behind the stranger and frowned, "Yes, I am. Sorry. Thought you were someone else..."

Ali pushed forward, "This is what my companion here is talking about." She presented the message scroll with its distinctive seal, allowing Andover to look but not touch.

After a few seconds, he nodded, producing a pouch of 1000 gold pieces, "All right. Here you are. Take it quickly and go, before someone gets suspicious. Good work."

Ali snatched up the pouch and was out of the inn before anyone could blink. Once outside, she divided the coin evenly between them all and presented each of them with their share, "There you go, lads. Our first paycheck. Make it last."

Sven took his 250 gold with a lopsided grin, his first since coming here, besides when he found out there were other surviors of the incident in town. Of course, this grin was quickly hidden beneath an expressionless face. He decided he would spend his spoils on new boots, as his old ones were falling apart. He wasn't looking forward to breaking in new leather, but the holes in his old boots urged him in the direction of the shoemaker.

"Is anyone else going to buy boots?" he froze in his tracks and asked, in case someone wanted to go with him, but in the back of his mind he sincerely wished he could be alone.

Jenendiah quietly went along with the rest of the group as they delivered the message and received their payment. He took his bit of the gold and decided he'd be best off shopping for a proper cleaning and sharpening kit for his axe, but then Sven thought up the idea of boots, and Jenendiah figured he could use a replacement for his worn old work boots.

"Yeah, I'll go." He told Sven and shrugged, before gesturing for Sven to come along. Out of all the people in the group, Sven seemed to be the most approachable simply because he seemed to be just as horribly awkward and shy as Jenendiah himself was, so he figured that if he was looking for a friend Sven was the place to look.

There was a tailor on the far side of town, and Jenendiah- after barely managing to get directions out of someone - walked in and started browsing boots. The pair that caught his eye was a pair of thick leather traveler's boots, about knee-high and waterproof, dark brown with black laces. He looked at Sven and tried repeatedly to make conversation, but he couldn't quite force himself to speak and it quickly became silent.
