Low LOD models appear on-top of High LOD models when I load a new cell.

Hello,


I am experiencing a problem where the low level-of-detail models that you would usually see off in the distance, are being loaded and displayed on top of the normal/high level-of-detail objects. It happens when I load a new cell. Be it via fast traveling, or simply exiting Breezehome into Whiterun. The low lod models do disappear after a few seconds, but its starting to really bug me.


Its odd, the high lod models are there and loaded just fine. I can even walk through the low LOD models and see the high ones.


Has anyone run into this before? I have tried going back to a default set of INI files, and that didnt seem to have an effect.


Any Ideas?

Please copy/paste the text file of your BOSS log (open tthe BOSS GUI, select to have the log shown in text file format not html), and your skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini files (the ones in your mydocuments\mygames\skyrim, not the ones your steamapps\common\skyrim).

 

Enclose each of those in spoiler tags (from the pull down menu of the third icon to the left on the top toolbar).

 

Also please add if you have used any other utilities that might affect your Skyrim visuals, like a texture optimizer, and/or if you have made custom changes to your graphics processor game profile for skyrim.

1. You need to take care of all of those messages in your BOSS log. You have a ton of unsorted mods. These must be properly placed in the load order. Mod authors usually provide information about proper load order on their mod page. You can also use TES5Edit to do this. YOu will also need to use TED5Edit to clean the DLCs and any other mod flagged by BOSS for cleaning.

 

2. You have lot of mods that are disabled. Disabling mods does not remove their influence from the game, in many cases. I would go through and re-read the mod authors instructions for proper removal of mods you are no longer using. It may be that some mods cannot be completely uninstalled without starting a new game. However, leaving them disabled in your list is going to produce similar problems.

 

After that, I would look at your prefs ini changes, particularly those that alter the default LOD settings and the threaded memory, and the ForcAllDecals

Most particularly, you have conflicting settings in your .ini files for exterior cell buffer.

prefs ini has

uExterior Cell Buffer=72

ini has

uExterior Cell Buffer=36

 

The correct value for your ugrids is

uExterior Cell Buffer=36

I will start with the INI files first. I did not realize there were settings that can be defined in two places. Seems odd. I'll see how it turns out.

 

As for the mod order. Yeah, its a mess...
