A New Daedric Prince

I am looking for help in creating a Quest that involves creation a new Daedric Prince.

The quest begins after you have completed the Main Quest. A strange Telvanni-esque tower appears near the

shrine of Mehpala. The player will either be informed instantly or a Dremora herald will deliver and invitation.

Once the player reaches the tower (I've included a screenshot of a concept construction) he finds it empty

except for a note and teleportation pad. The teleport pad transports you to a remodeled version of Mankar

Camoran's palace and you are greeted by an Altmer name Ealdor (This is currently a placeholder name).

Ealdor is a master chronomancer, and is sort of a doddering old man, constantly forgetting what he's doing

or what he's done because he exists outside the normal flow of time.

The chronomancy aspect is a fantastic cheat in the story. He dwells in Mankar Camoran's palace, which has

been destroyed permanently, because the teleport pad did not take you to a place, but a snapshot in time.

He was free to redecorate because later he will remove all these things and restore the flow of time to that

area. This also means that some dead people, or people who were in Morrowind could be involved.

Ealdor is also House Telvanni, meaning there are no stipulations on how you achieve your goals.

Here's the actual story:

Ealdor has gained a lot of popularity among the Daedra, Hermaeus Mora considers him his "Witness" because

he's the only person who has lived long enough to know that Mora's predictions are never wrong. Somewhere

along the line he saw Nocturnal without the protection of the Cowl. This drove him insane, where he was sent

to the Shivering Isles (The chronomancer shop-keeper learned his powers from him). Apparently Sheogorath

liked him and let him leave the Isles. There could lots of comical stories about how Sheogorath made his misuse

his powers to amuse him. There was a second side-effect of seeing Nocturnal's face. He fell in love with the Daedra.

His plan is that, with the player's help, dwemer technology, hist sap, and Telvanni magic he will create a

Counterfeit Heart of Lorkhan. Using it's powers he will transform himself into a god, a suitable mate for Nocturnal,

who apparently returns his affection. Naturally this would cause quite a stir among the other princes, but he would

have Hermaeus Mora, who is his patron, Sheogorath, who will enjoy the chaos, and Mephala, who enjoys the ludicrous

complexity of his plan, on his side his ascension should be fairly smooth.

Azura is the biggest threat (look at all the trouble she went through last time), but Ealdor has an advantage over

Dagoth Ur and the Tribunal gods. He's outside of time, which means that he will not need to bask in the Heart's power,

once he has ascended it is useless, so the last task of the quest is to destroy it.

The rewards would be powerful items and spells that utilize chronomancy. I am unsure how powerful to make spells

like these because it would be somewhat game-breaking. However, it's after the main quest so you would already be

fairly powerful. It would be nice to have some spells that make fortifications of hindrances permanent. (I tested this by

making a spell that permanently paralyzes anyone it's cast upon. I used it on someone in the Market District, left, and

came back in three days and they were still there in the same spot.) The tower might also be included as the reward.

After you complete the quest you learn that Ealdor has succeeded by discovering his new shrine. When you talk to his

worshipers you learn he has become Ouroboros, The Void. Since all the Daedric Oblivion planes were claimed he claimed

the area outside of time as his realm, the space between spaces. He is depicted as a dragon eating his own tail because he

is eternal. He is wed to Nocturnal and, as another time-related dragon is occasionally referred to as "the Perversion of Akatosh."

A minor daedric quest might be thrown in as well. I would also like to make it so you can drag one of his

followers along with you, like the mage's guild apprentices.

As you can see, this is a large mod, and my capabilities are limited. I can voice act, I can script, to a degree,

and I can setup and decorate spaces. I would like to limit the new meshes to ONLY the statue of Ouroboros

and construct everything else out of in-game items, and ideally no new animations would be required.

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this and if anyone would like to help either with development or advice.

Three points.

1. I think that you should actually become Ouroubos' right hand man, his herald of sorts.

2. There is no set number of daedric planes of oblivion, mehrunes dagon created his oqn plane of oblivion after he left tamriel, you remember.

3. I would just love to voice ealdor.

Wow this sounds like it would be amazing. But what if the player could become a daedric god? I mean, i know you can do this in SI, but what if after you built the new heart, you could either push Ealdor out of the way or kill him and become the new god of time. You could get your own shrine, mabye using the bruma statue thingy. And a new spell that allows you to slow down or speed up time. As i said, this is just an idea. Perhaps a plugin to go to war with other princes....

@dagondagon1

1. I love that idea. We could have several daedric quests then, like

"This necromancer has lived a very long time and does not worship me.

Kill him so people know that I am the only escape from mortality." Or

something like that to bring awareness and more followers to Ouroboros.

2. Thank you, I actually did forget that, but there was a second reason.

The other Daedric princes seem to exist inside the normal flow of time,

by staying outside of it he cannot be touched by some of the more angry

(Azura) daedric princes. We might also mention that their power revolves

around how many believers they have, and so Ouroboros, while still a god,

is not very powerful yet (The Tribunal only survived because they cut a deal),

and once he has enough of a following he can't be stopped.

3. I'll try and come up with some sample dialogue so you can try the character out.

@andy12750

I'd really prefer to have Ealdor succeed, because I don't think he would tell you how

to use the new heart. I think it would be better if you just became, like dagondagon1

said his "herald," like Haskell for Sheogorath. You'd be immensely powerful in your own

right, and that time spell would be a great reward.

It'd be really cool if you could go to war with the other Daedra. Perhaps a quest where

you go to gather help from the various Princes against an assault on Ouroboros' followers

that Azura is mounting, like the Battle of Bruma?

Some would automatically give you aid, like Nocturnal, and other would blatantly refuse it

and probably order their followers to attack you, like Azura, while others would probably

want something, like Clavicus Vile who would probably settle for a huge bribe.

We might want to throw in something about the Nine Divines, the "Perversion of Akatosh"

thing is bound to upset people at the temples.

Keep in mind though, that any of this turns an already large mod into an even bigger one.

Hey man this is a great idea, it'd be an amazing quest.

I also think that you should become his right hand rather than become yourself a daedra prince, after all, he has called you for some reason, because ... is there a reason, right? Perhaps as the Champion of Cyrodiil you have acces now to something from the emperors that could help him performing his ritual / building his fake holy stuff; or maybe he has seen your future further than Uriel Septim did... just throwing ideas.

In my opinion there's enought stuff here to make a big and damn cool quest mod, so I'd suggest you separating those things that should be performed to help him ascending, and those that may be done once he has become Ouroboros, so you could go for the main quest of the mod and then expand it as much as you want with next releases.

I'm sorry I'm not very very familiar with the gods and the lore, and everything I can think of would be for that second part after the ascension. Here are just two ideas to make the quest plot have a some impact afterwards:

- once the quest is finnished some books are replaced and now the name of Ouroboros appears to be even in Akaviri stories, like once he's a god he can make appearances in every time, and not just your time, or was he able to do so before?

- the last time you meet him in an un-temporal place or plane, after you both say goodbye, he has a lapse and teleports you to the moment of the final battle in the imperial city! Everyone is there, and there's a lot of daedras... a minute after you're taken to an un-temporal place again, he excuses himself for the mistake and then sends you to your time. Or even better, he could send you back to prison just where you started, with that prisoner in the cell in front of yours repeating the same sentence and the blades escorting the emperor... oh man that would be a great joke.

I've started modding recently but I can script and make quests and dialogs, and place stuff into the world just like everyone can, so if there's anything you want me to do for this mod just tell me, I'll be glad to cooperate with this, and I'd also make some fun expanding and twisting the story so if you want I could throw in some more ideas.

This is an awesome idea! maybe i can try to make some parts of it. Especially the spells, I really wanna try my hand at chronomancy, I've made spells that turn people into stone and freeze them for a set time, so maybe I could do something like that with the time thing, except make it a toggled freeze/unfreeze spell. as in the first cast freezes them permanently and if you cast it on someone frozen it will return them to normal. The slow and speed up time will be tricky, I don't know if its possible.. but it must, because deadly reflex uses slow motion for criticals. Maybe some of my necromancers spells that I'm working on would work with this too.

Ourobouros? The black sludgy thing from Resident Evil 5? Lol nevermind, it's all good.
