Freezing/ctds in and around Falkreath

Getting some strange freezes and the occasional ctd around Falkreath. I've attached my latest papyrus log from a freeze that happened when I entered the Falkreath Inn. I've received the same errors on the logs before, although those occasions don't seem to be connected...(first was entering Shriekwind Bastion, sorta near Falkreath, then killed a skele on the road to Falkreath and tried to loot him but VM froze, and a few times froze just walking).

 

Each crash is associated with the same issue: WETriggerscript.psc. I cannot find the script in any of my files and from poking around on the interwebs I'm confident it's from the mod Wet and Cold, which I do have. Is that the case? and if so can I fix it without removing W&C?

 

Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for taking the time.

 

P.S. I recently removed skyBirds from my mod list, so there were a lot of APB references when loading up my last save. I don't believe they are causing any problems so I removed them from the log when pasting it here and just left the very last stuff before the freeze.

I will try that thank you! No clue how I missed that I don't think it's shown up before. I'll test around and see if the freezes still happen. On a side note, is there some reason the spoiler tags didn't work...I was pretty sure that was how they were put in the forums?

I disabled the two incompatible parts of CoT before these trials as well. I still think it has something to do with these WET scripts

Alright so I tried again without Wet and Cold installed and the logs were a bit different....but I still ctd in the same area.

Well, WE-TriggerScript.psc is NOT related to, for example, WET-PlayerAlias.psc. They just happen to have the same first three letters. One is a vanilla script, WETriggerScript, the other is from "WET and Cold". WETriggerScript.pex (the compiled version of WETriggerScript.psc) is located in Skyrim - Misc.bsa and loaded via Skyrim.ini by default. If you install the CK, I believe it will load the vanilla script sources (psc files) into your Data\Scripts\Source folder for your perusing enjoyment.

 

What mod manager and version are you using?

What version of the Unofficial Skyrim Patch do you have? Current UOP's should load right after their associated esm files.

Sorry for a late reply Garon, Thanks for the infor on scripts, that makes sense!

 

I'm using NMM version 0.49.2. The unofficial skyrim patch is the latest, 2.0.3 (same with the dawnguard patch). I recently found out that I needed to move my patches behind their .esm's and although the load order above does not show it, I have had a crash with the patches properly placed.

 

Is installing the creation kit difficult or do you think that would be an easy fix?

The CK: That is not a fix for anything, just a way (IIRC) to get the source files if you are interested in looking at them (they are text files).

First things first: The Papyrus logs are not crash logs. While script errors can cause just about any problem in Skyrim, the logs don't print errors specifically related to a crash (CTD/ILS/FREEZE), they just contain info about the script engine in general. Unless you know what the logs are telling you, or you Google for instances, following the logs to identify a crash often ends up being a wild goose chase.

 

You have a very demanding mod load and it will need all the help you can give it for stability's sake.

 

1. Have you made any ini file changes, especially ugridstoload or Papyrus block settings? You can post your ini files in Spoiler tags if you want us to look at them. I would certainly try vanilla ini files if you have made a lot of tweaks. If you changed ugrids, try vanilla ini files but just test from a new game.

2. Removing mods at this point will probably cause MORE problems than just leaving them in. I'd leave Wet and Cold in and active.

3. Make sure you run SUM or SkyProc EVERY TIME you change mods or load order.

4. Do you have Sheson's patch installed, ie, SSME/SKSE 1.7.0 Alpha/COMPILED PATCH?

 

Its been a few days, is the game still crashing? If you fixed the problem, let us know how you did it.

A few things

Try the script save cleaner that should remove any orphaned scripts

Falkreath is a very demanding area depending on your mod setup

Try this next

Turn off bigger trees ( huge performance killer )

Turn off ASIs increased and random spawns

Also turn off off immersive patrols

Give that a go

If that doesn't work find the lower res versions of your landscape textures and get back to us
