Hi folks,

first of all: Please excuse my english. It's not my native tongue.

I know some of these question may have been asked a thousand times but still...

I'll keep it short and simple:

New player (not even that to be honest, see first question), lured in by the BGR-Project. And I have actually no idea about mods and modding in NWN2

1. Are there incompatibilites in NWN2 concerning english mods with an non-english version oft the game (german one to be precise)?

Wouldn't be the wisest choice buying the german version, if this would cause havok later on. So I have to ask this.

1.1. This is esp. important for some of these nice unofficial patches/rebalance mods I've heard about. I don't care about some german/english mash-up unless it crashes the game somehow.

2. What are the places looking for mods for NWN2?

Unlike f.e. FO, Oblivion, Skyrim, etc. the Nexus sadly doesn't seem to be the ONLY place for great mods. The seems to be the BioWare-forums, the NWN2 vault, etc.

2.1. Sterotypical: What are "must haves" 2014 for NWN2 (esp. enh. OC & Addons + visuals)?

I know about the GUI and widescreen-mod. And I know, that there are a dozen of 1 to XY texture-recplacers. But I haven't seen anything like one big package containing "everything".

Is there something like that (HD-replacers)?

Also: Is there a good ENB/SweetFX preset for NWN2?

I hope it's better this way.

At first I was about to delete the post and copypasta it to the NWN2-section. But then I realised there is no real "general" discussion sub-forum over there.

So I repasted it in here again.

I hope the format is now okay.

Much better.

1. There are some incompatibilities with mods that use a custom TLK file, because if they overwrite the original TLK file, it'll cause many objects to appear with English names and descriptions. It will still be playable if you can read English, but of course you're wanting the German version so that it'll be in German, so that's not ideal. But most mods won't change the TLK.

1.1. It will not crash the game. But some of those big packs you mention may in fact change the TLK file.

2. There are only three major sites that I know of. Nexus, the IGN Vault, and the new Vault.

2.1. There is no big all-in-one pack to improve models, textures, etc., like there is for Morrowind, Oblivion, etc. You'll need to install head/hair packs, texture upgrades, etc. all separately, and make sure they don't conflict with each other. Most textures shouldn't conflict (like the new wood floor to replace the terrible default wood floor), but heads, hair, bodies, and clothing packs frequently conflict with each other, and some aren't even updated to work in harmony with all of the official updates and campaigns.

I don't know about an ENB setting for NWN2, since I've only used that for Morrowind.
