SkyRe safe way to install on old save?

I wanted to know if there was anyway to safely install Skyrim re-done on a pre-played savefile that didn't have it before. I have this Argonian character that I created

mere days after first getting Skyrim two years back. I'd like to add SkyRe to his gameplay for more immersion and effects, via the perks, and combat, but I know its dangerous to add the mod

unless its a new game.

I really don't want to reset him because of all the fond memories I've had with him, and I always find myself coming back to him to play around

travel with follows etc.

Is there anyway I can add SkyRe to his gameplay without creating a new save, and it be safe?

Would getting rid of all his perks, resetting my skill levels help?

Yes and no.

You can add the mod but you'll likely have some features that do not work properly - or at all.

Or, you'll find out ten to fifty hours into playing with it that there's now something wrong with your game and you need to revert to an earlier save and remove the mod entirely.

Large overhauls are complex and usually have things that need to be in place and in motion from the beginning of your game, starting them hundreds of hours into a save will likely lead to some of those things not working or working badly to the point that your save is ruined. If you're dead set on adding mods to an existing (and dear) character then you should learn how to properly uninstall a mod first, which kinds of mods can be uninstalled completely and safely and make a backup of a save prior to installing the mod for safe keeping - just in case.

Good luck.

Ok then I should just chalk up SkyRe adding to my old character as a big no.

I really wanted to add it for the advancements in combat, and skills.

But I don't want to play several hours just to revert, thanks for the response though

always good to know.
