This is a fairly standard desktop PC hard drive - it will run it as least as well as most standard desktop hard drives. And better than many - The WD Black series drives do have a larger cache than some other hard drives. For performance, avoid the green series as they tend to be the slower 5400 rpm and the red series ( also 5400 RPM ) as they are intended for things like backup storage, NAS And RAID ( I have one in my security video recorder)
Most laptops use a slower 5400RPM drive for the power and cost savings of a slower drive. And it shows in the performance.
The typical Desktop uses the 7200 RPM The differences will be in the read/write times and on board cache.
For real performance there are 10,000 rpm Hard drives that cost more than the 7200rpm drives.
An SSD will blow them all out of the water, but will cost quite a bit more for a lot less capacity.

A WD Black series with a 64mb cache, of course it will run Skyrim. Your main concern should be the CPU and GPU plus ram for each.

CPU i5 or i7 (4th generation are good ones)
Min 8gb ram
For graphics:
If youre nVidia fan: 680, 760 OC BF Edition, 780, 780 ti are good gfx's im not nvidia user so i cant give you exact good gfx's but these are most popular ones
AMD:
Cost + Good Performance options:
270x TOXIC 2gb Tri-x - This is the fastest and the best option for less than 200 euro price range, it has extremely good performance for 270x
High end:
280x TOXIC
290X TriX
For HDD i use the same HDD as you do, and its working good, but i do recommand SSD when you will have money.
