flexcreator
Added new controls for boating, now you can sit on the boat and row backwards (control the direction with the movement keys). Unfortunately, there will be no support for third person in this mode. It's much easier to control the ship in this mode. niceguy
It just to bad that the scale of Skyrim allow for little use of boats. Skyrim have no rivers, just small shallow streams and only a few lakes separated from each other. And the coastline really only allow for the east/west axis of travel. With wide deep rivers and some canals, much could be achived. Morrowind gave as a large main island that boats could circumvent and smaller islands in the north including Solhsteim. This is why I want the next game to be in the Summer set isles after the fall of the Thalmor.
flexcreator
I won't limit the number of boats, you can build one for each river :)
flexcreator
Player can now use Dwarven Oil and Troll Fat to reduce friction! New videos: How to revert the boat to it's original state (when it's upside down):
mindw0rk2
Great idea, sadly controls are far from optimal. Here how to improve it:When you activate boat, player sees animation where his character sits on the boat and brings out paddles. Then you can control boat with WSAD keys. Character and boat are in 3d person view, unique paddle animation plays depending on where players heads his boat. This will be perfect. Clicking at sides for control is imho terrible Edited July 6, 2014 by mindw0rk2

I'm not an animator. > Clicking at sides for control is imho terribleWASD controls are ALREADY implemented (first person only). There are TWO modes of controlling the boat. Check the videos. flexcreator
Why it's so hard to create a realistic driveable Long Boat? Long Boat is stable enough on the water (just like the regular boat in "Realistic Functional Boats") But the following issues makes it pretty unrealistic:1) You need a crew to use this boat, but followers as any other NPC will easily turn the ship over (the physics engine is processing the NPC bodies in a different way than the player's body). So, the whole idea of taking followers to the ship is ruined. 2) With high mass you will hear the annoying water slaps. So, my point - the idea is seducing, but this thing will be unplayable in practice.
