ItsMikeYo
So, last night I started downloading and trying all sorts of new mods, and I got a set that I really enjoyed and Skyrim was going with minimal problems yesterday. Today, after trying to launch Skyrim again to continue playing, the game now crashes when I launch from either SKSE or normal steam and doesn't get past the "Bethesda" logo. I disabled all my mods except "Update.esm" and "Skyrim.esm" and it still would crash. I then tried remove my Textures and Meshes folders to see if it was a graphics changer mod that was breaking Skyrim for some reason and it still crashes. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions? ItsMikeYo
reinstall Any idea why it broke the game to cause it to need to be reinstalled?
camaro_69_327
reinstall is not the first step in figuring out what went wrong....sometimes it WHERE you saved the game can cause problems....you do keep more then one save going right?...do they all not load. Did you save outside?..Did you save with active effects going?DO you keep 5-10 saves running?Do you have SKSE and an SKSE.INI ? First steps ..Sort load order with BOSS or LOOTTry with new INI files (delete/move the 2 INI files in... My docs\ Mygames\ Skyrim) run the default launcher it generates new INI files."Verify Integrity Game Cache Files" Steam.Run TESVEdit ...take what edit loads (just click OK) see if edit gives ERROR thats a missing master.Post a Load order here with System Specs, and ask if anything looks out of order.INstall SKSE w/ SKSE.iniInstall ENB w/ the Boost featureYell ., throw a fit....reinstall.. After a reinstall following the STEP guide to make Skyrim a virgin again....add ONE mod at a time...start the game. Yes if i have 237 mods running i have started the game 300 times...just to get my mod setup going. Probably more. I know if it takes 15 seconds too long to actually start. Anything you question ..what is that..do a Google search....then ask here...lol
ItsMikeYo
Already uninstalled, if it still breaks then I will try those steps. It never got past the initial "Bethesda" logo before crashing, so I do not think save games was an issue.

Nosko666
Try to install Mod organizer, and under the tab save, you can see if you have any missing masters from files. Also, the missing master will have a red triangle.
ItsMikeYo
So, I tried BOSS and TES5Edit, still won't work. I gutted Skyrim completely and did a fresh install, again, and my load order right now is Dawnguard.esm, HearthFires.esm, Dragonborn.esm, HighResTexturepack01.esp, HighResTexturepack02.esp, HighResTexturepack03.esp. When I launch the game through steam, it insta crashes. When I try it with SKSE, it gets to the Bethesda logo then crashes.
ItsMikeYo
Also, when I try to validate it with Steam, it says 1 file failed to validate each time but it never installs anything.
camaro_69_327
Try with new INI files (delete/move the 2 INI files in... My docs\ Mygames\ Skyrim) run the default launcher it generates new INI files.A re-install does not delete these files...find them , nuke them , run the default Launcher, just to generate new INI files. Then try with SKSE. Try, ...in this folder >>>E:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim ....Right click >>>"skse_loader.exe" select>>"Run as administrator"..IF this worked, drag with right mouse, drop on desktop. IN properties >compatibility, select check box..."Run this program as administrator". then always use that shortcut to launch the game. SKSE does not go in the DATA folder , it must be in the Skyrim folder with the TESV.exe IF that did not work....in >>"C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\Skyrim"... delete the 2 files..."Loadorder.txt" and "Plugins.txt" run the default launcher.IF that did not do it>>>>E:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\DirectX10 .....Find >> DXSETUP.exe <<run thatIF that did not work, try,...in >>.......\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\VCRedist <<<<run that program IF none of this worked.....http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Make_Skyrim_Vanilla_Again<< make Skyrim a virgin again. As i am out of Ideas.... **Note..."the ONE file failed to validate"...is a common thing with steam...Ignore it.
