UPDATE 2014-07-01: This issue is caused by the current version of Immersive First Person, likely an incompatibility with another mod I'm using. The mod author, meh321, appears to be aware of this issue and is working to fix it (thank you!). If you're experiencing this problem, I suggest either uninstalling the mod for now, downgrading to an older version, or trying out the 1.9 beta, which attempts to fix the bug. It works for me, but keep in mind it's a beta so you may experience other issues.

Hey all,

When I loaded up Skyrim today I encountered a strange bug. My character can look up or down but not left or right, and he can't move. When I switch to third person, the camera is stuck at the closest zoom level, and my character and follower both appear frozen - for example, I had had a torch out when I saved, and if I switch to a shield the model switches out but my character continues to hold the shield out as if it were a torch. No one appears to be breathing. Even weirder, if I try to draw my weapon, no animation plays but the sound goes NUTS, apparently playing the first 0.01s of the 'draw' effect on loop or something, probably stacked on top of each other since it was loud and sudden. Needless to say, I jumped and it hurt my ears.

I've tested with multiple saves, all have the same issue, so it's a mod problem, which makes sense since I updated some 10 or so mods before starting the game today. My gut tells me it's an animation problem, due to the frozen characters and such. FNIS and FNIS Sexy Move were among the mods I updated, but I of course ran GenerateFNISForUsers after doing so, so there's no reason that should have caused a problem.

I'm running a heavily modded game, so I know issues are to be expected, just wondering if anyone knows what mod is likely causing this.

LOOT Log (ignore the SOS and ClimatesOfTamriel related errors, the corresponding plugins are deactivated but LOOT sorts them anyway):

Any help is much appreciated!

I'm having the exact same issue, and I simply can't figure it out. I've been working on it for several hours. The only thing I've found that works is on one save with a bow currently equipped and out, I can click to fire it. It repeats the same sound for a little while, the arrow flies incredibly slowly, until it hits the ground. Then it bounces back, is laggy for a few seconds, and the game is back to normal. Now, I'm not sure why that would fix it, but it's surely not an acceptable fix. I'll keep looking, and let you know what I find out! As well, let me know if you find a fix, cause this just isn't normal!

My mod list, for comparison...

Spoiler

I'll compare our lists for similarities, and try removing those to see if it fixes the issue. I don't think it was an animation mod, since I didn't install any since this issue began; we'll see though. I'm happy to see someone has the same problem, hopefully we can help eachother out!

EDIT: So, after a little testing, I still haven't found the solution, but I did find something a bit odd; if you click the crouch button, then press the jump button, you crouch. I had hoped that this worked to draw a bow to fire it and fix the glitch, but unfortunately, it seems to only work to crouch.

Go to the FNIS page, watch the Video, near the end of the video is shows this problem and its from a failed uninstall/install. ? Least that's what it looked like, Characters frozen in place.

Watched the video and that's not the problem. The frozen npcs are similar, but in our case not only does no one have animations, the player can't move around at all - not even look left or right!

Also reinstalled FNIS, cleaned out the overwrite directory, and reran GenerateFNISForUsers.exe enough times that I''m pretty much certain the problem isn't animation related.

Based on my recent downloads, here are the mods I updated/installed right before the problem started:

I've tested some of the more 'suspicious' mods like Immersive FP and Face to Face, but I haven't had time to test all of them, and some of them (like AOS) have way too many dependencies for me to conveniently remove them. Let me know if you've also messed around with any of these mods recently.

We will get to the bottom of this!

EDIT: Just tested with all of these mods uninstalled (I love you Mod Organizer) except FNIS and Maids, and the problem was FIXED. So it's one of the mods on the list. Expect an update shortly.

EDIT2: It WAS Immersive FP. Somehow I thought I tested that, but I guess not. Anyway, that's the culprit, I'll try and see if it can be fixed by tweaking the settings.

Well, I was relatively certain it wouldn't do anything, but I went ahead and updated FNIS. Unfortunately, it still isn't working. You see, his animations were broken, but he could still move around. We can't move at all. If you have any other ideas though, I'd be more than happy to try.

Good to hear back from the OP!

I've refreshed the .ini files, and uninstalled numerous mods, but I still can't seem to find the culprit. I'll keep looking around for it, but nothing yet... Unfortunately, I've messed with too many mods since this happened I've lost track, so I can't list them off here. I'll let you know if I make any progress though!

PS: does the crouch then jump thing work for you? Just to make sure we share the same issue

I just fixed it! You can do so by using this save cleaner... (Maybe not, read edit 2)

http://www.nexusmods...im/mods/52363/?

Just follow the instructions on the page, and it works! That means, however, that it was a script issue. That makes it harder to narrow it down to a specific mod, but I'll keep trying. At least our saves work once again! I hope this works for you like it did for me.

EDIT: Also, sorry, I didn't realize I had posted three times in a row

Edit 2: So, it worked at first. I was able to walk around, use all the usual functions, then I saved, exited the game and came back in. What do you know? Stalled again. Hmm, maybe the solution wasn't so simple

Thanks! I haven't tried it yet, but I sure hope the new version works! I can't play without Immersive FP, I've fallen in love with it haha. Thanks for the help!

I had the same problem and I solved it by removing "Skyrim Reloaded - SKGE"
