Ancient nord weapon replacers

i don't know about anyone else, but personally i HATE the ancient nord weaponry, i hate the textures i hate the way they look i hate everything about them, can someone please make a mod that completely replaces the ancient nord weapons, im not sure honestly what id like them to be replaced with, but anything would be better than them... (as long as they're practical and could be an actual functional weapon.. so no like over-sized or unnecessary parts to them) example of unnecessary pats would be like the guard on the sword. i wouldnt mind if the sword looks all rusted and beat and all around shitty ( not shitty like it looks bad, shitty like you wouldnt want to use this as a sword because its so old and brittle). ill leave some examples of the stupid sword in game, and what i mean by rusted and shitty to use swords. (some good examples i found were to big to fit into an attachment  ) another good example that i couldnt find a good picture that would fit would be the broken straight sword from Dark Souls

If you find some weapons you like as replacers, I can do it for you.

Basically you just drop the replacer models into the folder: 'skyrim\data\meshes\weapons\draugr' and rename them to default ancient nord(draugr) filenames.

There are 2 models for each weapon, a first person model and a third person model..

For example the onehanded sword must have the name '1stpersondraugrsword.nif' for the first person model, and 'draugrsword.nif' for the third person model.

"hate" is a strong word but I have to agree that the nord weapons are more like ceremonial weapons and highly impractical. It's sadly a general Elder Scolls concept mistake to think that old weapons like Wuuthrad have to look "special". A legendary weapon is not forged to be special it becomes special by its wearer or do its battles where it was used. Its history. In case of Wuuthrad means that it should look like a half-way normal battle axe (it can have still a slightly special design cause it's from the time period of Ysgramor, runes and so on). But the over the top design makes no sense at all. Ysgramor could have died the very first day in Skyrim. What then? Who would have cared for Wuuthrad then in "modern" Skyrim? Nobody.

Did you seriously just say

"as long as they're practical and could be an actual functional weapon.. so no like over-sized or unnecessary parts to them) example of unnecessary pats would be like the guard on the sword. "

?

A sword guard as unnecessary part of a sword?

Do you know anything about weaponry? The guard is of MAJOR importance to a sword. Yes, you can have a functioning sword without a guard, but the best swords have guards.

what about the textures though?

Textures for .nif files (the meshes Skyrim uses) have their filepaths encoded into the mesh itself. The game reads that and applies the appropriate texture, regardless of where the mesh is placed, so long as those textures exist under the folder named "Textures" or are included in a .bsa archive.

For example, if you use the above-mentioned method to replace the ancient nord swords with, say, the Nordic weapons added by the Dragonborn DLC, those weapons will still be using the Nordic weapon textures instead of the ancient nord weapon textures.

So, if you're replacing the ancient nord weapons with modded weapons, be sure to include the mod's textures folder in the appropriate place (typically either Skyrim\Data or Skyrim\Data\Textures, depending on whether or not the mod already uses a folder named "textures").

Draugr weapon overhaul. These looks absolutely amazing, they are full replacers added to leveled list lists only a measly 6mb. (Bows not included)

Old kingdom - weapons add-on. Changes mesh and textures of EVERY vanilla Skyrim + Dawnguard + Dragonborn Weapons. (Requires Old Kingdom. Changes mesh and textures of EVERY vanilla Skyrim Dawnguard Dragonborn armor and clothing.) Totaling 460mb
