Merging hairstyles and neck seam?

Okay, Hi? Normally I go on the internet to find solutions but I'm absolutely terrible at modding, (like the only thing I've done was create a follower and a horse) and the follower I made was from a story i've written. Basically the character means a lot to me , it was great having him in skyrim, but I felt like I was going to go mad if I didnt get at least a more similar hairstyle or fix that stupid neck seam.

(Tl;dr?) I want to merge a hairstyle and another part of one, but I have no idea how I would approach this. (what program? How? tips? Kentucky fried chicken?) Also he has a god awful neck seam problem that drives me insane, he's a follower so I have no idea how im going to fix it, (I also want to make him armor, but I think that would put the carriage before the horse) (well, merge armors together to give him something special, ANYWAY)

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, I've searched from Google to Yahoo to no avail.

I think what you're wanting to do is merge two hair meshes to create a new hairstyle? You'd need at least some kind of model editing program for that. Though if it's a simple change you might be able to get away with using nifskope alone.

Here's a couple tutorials for using nifskope that might be handy, even if they are for older ES games. http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/Oblivion/Creating_New_Hair_Meshes

Basically the same properties apply to armor mashups.

For your neckseam issue - just get a neckseam concealing necklace and give it to the companion. Unless you want to custom paint their skin and face textures yourself.
