Discussion: Skyrim Redone vs Requiem

So this has problably been on topic before.

I myself has only played Skyrim redone.
But I've tried to read about requiem also.

From what I understand SkyRe has a really fun skill tree but lacks the scaling. Creatures don't scale with you and soon (hitting like lvl 60) you get overpowered to almost any enemy in skyrim.

And in requiem they have focused more on the scaling so all enemies scale with you as you lvl. Keeping them alomst as hard as they are from the beginning.

This is only small of what I've understood.

But anyone that has really tried out both and can tell the diferrences.

What is good and bad with them?
Compability, wich one is the esiest to use?
and why? :)

My take on the three main overhauls:

SkyRe: Well done overall and fairly balanced, no real scaling though. Most popular overhaul so pretty much everything has a compatibility patch. T3nd0 is an awesome bro and the mod has tons of support, which makes up for the fact that I wasted hours of my life on goddamned SkyRe compatibility patches which are always orders of magnitude harder to create than those for any other mod and tend to become invalid when SkyRe is updated.

Requiem: Has its own niche as a hardmode overhaul, plays well and has less compatibility issues than SkyRe (most of them simple numbers tweaks) but looks like a plane crash in the CK. I looked at a few spells, ran into several bugs and tons of misnamed records and magiceffects that do weird things that aren't documented and probably not intentional and noped out. Most of its chimpanzee design is not visible to the user, but it's like opening the hood of a newly bought and perfectly running second hand car and seeing duct tape.

SPERG: Don't underestimate this. It is less popular but also well done, including on a technical level, and has almost no compatibility issues.

I tried Requiem, but my biggest issue is that it's not very compatible with other mods that can affect, directly or indirectly, the difficulty. It's also not very friendly to many playstyles. You kind of have to play a very certain way, especially at first. So if you plan on playing a specific playstyle, it's definitely not for you. If you don't mind mixing it up, give it a try.

Sorry for the necro post, but I wanted to clarify the scaling of Skyre and Requiem. In Vanilla Skyrim, NPCs are already scaled to you. If you are level 5, bandits will most likely have fur or leather. Later on, bandits will have ebony armor at a higher level. Imo,this ruins any sense of accomplishment from the game because when you level up and become more powerful, everyone else becomes more powerful with you add you have not gain any advantage and keeps the difficulty stagnant. In fact, leveling up from non combat skills like pickpocket puts you at a disadvantage because the game assumes that you are more powerful from skill increase and perks in combat skills.

SkyRe retains this scaling feature, but Encounter Zones make is less pronounced.

Requiem, on the other hand, delevels the world which imo makes it more immersive. You can enter a fort on level one filled with wizards with master level spells that can one-shot you! It may seem unbalanced, but if somebody has better equipment, they have the advantage. The game shouldn't be easier for lower level players by scaling down the weapons and stats of the NPCs. It teaches you to not pointlessly challenge a camp of well equipped vampires when you could just leave them be an to return when you are stronger)(they will remain the same). Also, you can potentially find an enchanted Daedric weapon at level one from sheer luck in a chest since it isn't leveled.

Overall, Requiem has a higher learning curve than other overhauls, but it is so fun once you becomes accustomed to it :D

I just wish there was something in between SkyRe and Requiem. Not quite as deleveled, but close, but also not as incredibly hardcore as Requiem. I like to play immersively, but for me Requiem is too much. I am forced to play a certain way, and I don't really like that. Part of the fun in Skyrim is how many choices you can make.

Still, it's a very well done mod and the author probably poured hundreds of hours into it, so kudos to him.

I like the core concepts behind Requiem, like the encounter zones and the more old school RPG aspects, but I don't like a lot of the overhauls to the other areas that it does, like the perks, combat, and crafting system.

I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like SkyDie does some of the same things as Requiem, while allowing the player to use other overhaul mods to taylor their experience. I think for my next playthrough I'll be using SkyDie with Combat Realism and some other overhauls. i don't really think there is any reason to use one mod that overhauls everything with the large amount of specific overhaul mods available.

SkyRe is pretty awesome if you want something that is like a remade Skyrim. To me, if feels the way the vanilla game should have been. Also, SkyRe does have encounter zones with high minimum levels like Requiem, though I don't think it's nearly as extreme.

well you can't use requiem mid game so i use

T3nd0's Perkus Maximus + revenge of the enemies

also getting op is the part of the fun.
If you are amazing arch-mage you are master of destruction and conjuration but you can't even destroy a bandit camp without quciksaving 5 times then it is immersion breaking for me .
And vague perks are not a good thing its part of user interface for gods sake.
