monk specialisation and armor

i feel nostalgic sometimes from neverwinter and oblivion, and my puncher barbarian....can someone make some specialisation skills, that makes your fist damage equals weapons, and go up with lvl, and other skills like the thief chain (monk 'flurry of hits), arrow parade ,shield hit (with no shield hahaha BAM go see the floor!) and maybe heartseeker of the thief (that would look like okuto no ken fist , you don't know it but you're already dead!)

and not vital but cool, an heavy armor with pauldrons and bracers,no torso (maybe some tribal tatoos instead) a templar like helm and a fighter skirt (looks like Adray Lasbard from star ocean 3)

look like that^^

I think a monk spec would be cool. But something like a monk would need its own specific class. I got some ideas for some moves that could be included in either a monk class or spec.

Monk: cannot use weapons and normal equipment and only robes/armor specific to the monk class.

Fire, Frost, lightning and Spirit fist, Self (sustained) 50-75 stamina, Turns all damage into fire, frost, lightning or Spirit damage but cannot critical or back stab. Fire fist has a chance to set the target on fire, Frost has a chance to freeze the target, lightning has a chance to stun, and Spirit fist has a chance to paralyze. Roughly 5% chance for the effects.

Tiger fist: activate 30 stamina deals normal damage and stun on strike. 20 sec recharge.

Cobra fist: activate 40 stamina deals normal damage 2 hits and poison (lingering nature damage for 5 secs) 30 sec recharge.

Chi fist: activate 50 stamina deals normal damage and deals the same amount of damage to the enemy mana pool. 30 sec recharge.

Dragon combo: activate 60 stamina 3 hits first 2 hits do normal damage and the 3rd is critical if the first 2 hits land, also knocks down the opponent. 40 sec recharge.

Quick Reflexes: Self sustained 40 stamina, grants a substantial bonus to defense and attack speed.

Chakra: Self sustained 50 stamina, regenerates health while active.

Swift movement: Passive Quick reflexes now gives a bonus to movement speed and a larger bonus to attack speed.

Unbreakable Spirit: Self sustained 50 stamina, grants a substantial bonus to spell resistance as well as physical and mental resistance and consistently drains stamina while active.

Focused strikes: Self Sustained 30 stamina increases accuracy and sacrifices some attack speed.

Powerful strikes: Self Sustained 30 stamina increases damage for a penalty to attack. Cannot be active at the same time as focused strikes.

Pinpoint striking: passive aims for weakpoints in the opponents body and armor and Focused strikes now gives a bonus to armor penetration.

Lethal Striking: Self Activate 80 stamina: Every attack is a critical hit for 5 seconds. 120 sec recharge.

There is a full 4 trees in case anyone wants to make a monk class, or spec.

i like the second part of your skill tree (the first make me think of a mage/monk more) and i think that it would'nt evn necessairy to bring new animations, sword ones for special moves will be enough (i laugh like a madman when i imagine weapons finishers bare handed, like the three side hits of dual sword :p) i will upload a new pic of the armor, this one is more than tree years old. for the chakra thing it's just me or we have a final fantasy tactics player here? ;)

You know what I like about the DAO melee system? No ridiculous Uber Monks that can punch their way through solid steel plate armor. Unarmed monks tossing around guys with swords and strapped into 50lbs of steel plate is one of the most ABSURD things D&D has inflicted on Fantasy RPGs.

Its an RPG we are talking about, a monk punching through steel plate armor is no more ridiculous than a Mage casting a fireball. Not just in Final Fantasy games, monks are known to have supernatural powers, and are not your typical brawler with a bare hand. Even in real life some martial artists can break things with their hands that the average person couldn't break through with a 20 lb sledge hammer. Monks also have a spiritual side to their abilities, sometimes healing or focusing their strikes with their inner chi, which is how they get past plate armor. And the word Chakra didn't first appear in Final Fantasy, it has a meaning used by Buddhist monks which means wheel of time or something like that.

The monk idea I had was sorta like a rogue/mage combo. It wouldn't be any more overpowered than Arcane Warrior/Blood mage and probably less.

well i'm well versed in medieval weapons and armor (i have some) , look at the pic, it's bare handed maybe, but with steel gauntlets. even with iron knucles, it's useable as a weapon (in a fantasy world like darkchaos said, it should'nt even be a problem) just between us, take an elf with a longsword, make him it a guy in heavy armor , bling bling shoot my swordie can't cut steel! my frail arms aren't enough then? and take a trained human warrior, muscular, give him renforced plate gloves, and send a good punch in the helmet, you got one dead guy.(dont talk about vital point, armor weak part and dexterity, the monk can do it too)

a mage version ins'nt a bad idea, just that in mine idea i see more a trained warrior, babarian like, based on speed and strength.while we're at it, why not make both? spirit monk and heavy fighter^^

after, i ask for no big deal, i think it's more annoying to see 200 mods with faces changes, big boobs armor, sex everywhere and see people applause after. talk about realism....

theres a more recent version of it^^

ps2: i know about chakra thank^^ just that it was the name of the monk healing spell in tactics.

ps: for people who wants realism, play mount and blade.the best medieval simulation ^^

That is right, unarmed fighters also sometimes use gauntlets with spikes, blades or claws on them that could easily pierce armor. Ninjas and even Samurai were known to use such weapons in Feudal Japan.

it sort of remind me of the good old hexen, when you start with the fighter, punching your way trough the first ennemies ^^, anyway, it should'nt be hard to make even an invisible sword and bucler, with gauntlets icon and visible massive gauntlets on your chara.....at the worst

kung fu movies or not, dragon age has been nicknamed the heir of baldur's gate numerous times. monk class is a classic of dongeon/dragon, i just want a simple mod to get it. if you're not interessted, don't post here, and get on with your life dude, even if the mod is released, no one forces you to download it and install it.

happy to see that a monk class will be in diablo 3 too. it has some success in fantasy world, if you don't like it, you dont need to bother the ones who do.
