at least , can someone make an invisible sword that hits like melle punchs, and just the skirt of my armori can use gloves and helm from the game

Someone could make Chuck Norris, hes kinda a monk, sorta, except a hell of a lot more bad***. Nobody would question Chuck Norris punching through plate armor with his bare hands. But someone would have to do a roundhouse kick animation, because what is Chuck Norris without his trademark roundhouse?

Actually if you want weapons that punch through armor and such, India is the more likely place to find them, still that is not to say other countries haven't had a go at ways around armor from the oppressive regimes that were in charge. As for a monk being unrealistic, that is quite the claim from someone who has never seen any form of Kung-fu in action, or other martial arts for that matter. Most were designed so that an unarmed man would be capable of taking down a man with a weapon and armor to level the playing field, for example Kenpo (which I have trained in) was designed in Japan so that a normal man could take down a samurai armed with a Katana and armored from head to toe. The idea isn't tear through the armor like paper, it's to hit in places where the armor is weakest or that will not significantly reduce the impact. Add on some joint locking and holding techniques and the restrictions that any full body armor places on movement, and you can effectively break a man into little pieces without much fear. In practice, it takes a lot of nerve and a level of fearlessness that most do never attain, but it can be done.

All that aside, a monk class would be awesome. Instead of healing though, I would add in damage mitigation techniques that would more be along the line of body hardening (the act of developing severe callouses on particular body parts to resist attack), and though having access to ever type of damage would be neat, the only one that really makes sense as a monk is Spirit, also adding in the others would just be a step towards making monks The Only Class to play. Possibly add in a couple passive powers that would increase dodge chances, and resistances and the class would be set. All in all I like the idea presented, and wish I could actually have the patience to figure out the toolset.

You know what I like about the DAO melee system? No ridiculous Uber Monks that can punch their way through solid steel plate armor. Unarmed monks tossing around guys with swords and strapped into 50lbs of steel plate is one of the most ABSURD things D&D has inflicted on Fantasy RPGs.

Someone is mad because some random monk pwned his barbarian....

That is right, unarmed fighters also sometimes use gauntlets with spikes, blades or claws on them that could easily pierce armor. Ninjas and even Samurai were known to use such weapons in Feudal Japan.

I need a "pounding a fist on the table and laughing" smiley.

You guys watch WAY too many kung fu movies.

Well they actually aren't too far off, certain warrior cultures have utilized such devices. For example, look at the katar, it was used and produced in South India and was known to cut through chainmail and it was basically a short blade attached to a rig for punching. Consider the fact that a trained martial artist has been recorded to produce as much as 1000 psi, now with a weapon like the katar aimed at the neck which was notoriously covered in chainmail or areas like the armpit, knee, ankle, hips; all these areas could not be covered in plate armor because of the need for articulation meaning that they were predominantly protected by chainmail. A katar in the hands of a practiced user could theoretically get to these areas by moving within the arc of swords and axes, even soldiers wielding polearms might find themselves victim to such fighters if they don't stick their target in the first lunge.

I dont get you guys. You have some brain issues? When you see big bad magical dragon or a lightning blade or a dude who can send big balls of fire you say ooh nice it totally makes sense and when someone says there should be monks who can penetrate your armor you say o man this is *manure*. O wait a minute! Its a FRP! Everything is possible! kkthxbb
