Skyrim Enhanced - DLC integration Patch

If you have seen my previous topic you already have some idea what's this all about.

Anyway, minor/major problem in Bethesda games is that the DLC's don't communicate with each other.

Main reason for this is because the system is ESP/ESM based and to make them work well with each other there would need to be compatibility patch.

Biggest issues are that items from one DLC aren't added to other DLC's area/NPC's.

In fact, dlc's won't currently even affect skyrim itself as much as they could.

This "patch" or "mod" is part of series (check my original topic for more, 1,2,4 and 5, possibly 8 are gonna be part of this)
http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1358680-return-of-shadowjin-poll-and-some-stuff/

And my intention is to fix and enhance Skyrim using stuff supplied by DLC's and modders resources around the Nexus and Tesalliance.

THIS PART OF THE SERIES REQUIRES ALL DLC'S, INCLUDING HEARTHFIRE.

Anyhow, to this mod and things it changes.

1. You will see many of the new armors/weapons from DLC's around Skyrim. Mostly Dunmer clothes, carved armor, and things like that. I'll keep it as lore friendly and immersive as possible.

At the same time I "fix" things that I found just simply weird. (nothing too big, for example I changed outfits of almost everyone inside sovngarde, because pretty much everyone was wearing same set of armors.)

2. You can grow any DLC added plant in your hearthfire house.

3. You can buy much more stuff from merchants. It makes sense that innkeepers sell food items, milk and such. Blacksmiths sell nails, hinges and other tools you need to build your house. Potions, misc items, alcohol can be acquired from corresponding traders.

4. New adoptable critters for your kids! I'm currently working on this and I will at least add really small and cute baby netch, and maybe one of those creepy spiders added by dragonborn. I think small chaurus hunter would be a bit extreme?

I had other ideas as well, can't just remember them now.

Feel free to point out some ideas, and if you know NPC that could have different equipment from DLC just point it out.

That's neat. Wasn't that kinda what the USKP team were pondering a while back?

As for ideas: Maybe limit the Solstheim items to vendors that have any business dealing with Dunmer stuff. E.g Brand-Shei might have connections or the merchants of the Grey Quarter.

Bonemold might be a little more common among bandits; or is this a dunmer-only thing? I think one book mentions an Imperial captain donning Bonemold armour.

Crossbows, people definitely need to start using crossbows. I know they are referred to as "a Dawnguard thing", but it just doesn't make sense. You don't need much training to fire a crossbow, they should be far more common among bandits and city guards.

What about brining Hearthfire items such as ovens to the DLC areas? And while you're at it, you could place them in places like inns. Having them inside player homes sounds nice, but there are SO many mods that edit those; it's a bit of a gamble.

"What about brining Hearthfire items such as ovens to the DLC areas? "

This was one of the things I had forgotten! :D

Also, I didn't know USKP team had thought of this, though it would make a lot sense.

And yes, this is not actually the first time I am building this mod. I always end up reinstalling skyrim and thus deleting the .esp

However, I have worked it couple of times so that merchants in major cities generally have more items and better quality (read: More expensive) items/foods.

Also, I've added chitin/bonemold to couple of "mercenaries" and mostly dunmer in Skyrim. I don't know if I should try to figure out a way to give these items to random bandits as well.

Crossbows, I thought about that one when I last time worked on this mod. I love the idea of adding those to city guards, but I am not sure how much others like it.

I'd probably make it so that guards of "major" cities could carry them. (Whiterun, Solitude, Markarth, Riften) and in Markarth it'd probably be the Dwarven model.

Stormcloaks would probably stick to bows due to the "raw strength" those require, thus it'd fit better their ideology.

And yes, I think I am not going to alter homes (Except for the minor additions in Hearthfire itself).

Oven would take just huge amount of room from any home.

Anyhow, great ideas and good thoughts! Hopefully others pay attention at this thread as well.

Whooooa. Adding crossbows strictly to couple of cities seems to be quite lengthy project

But I think I do it. It'd just feel so "realistic" in sense.

Just found out quite simple way to achieve this.

Also, If I am correct, boys might bring new pet called "spidy" back home, it looks like the shiny glowy spider from Dragonborn DLC, both boys and girls might bring home Netch calf.

Don't ask me where they found those. Kids are creepy.

Hehehhe yea they are pretty good at diggin up stuff they shouldn't...

As long as they don't drag anything from Apocrypha along, I'll be fine...

I think soldiers using bows is completely ok. It makes sense; historically the main advantage of crossbows was the short training one had to undergo in order to be able to operate them. Soldiers, on the other side, probably have a more throrough training with bows.

There's no real reason Solsteim items would be sold or found in Skyrim

I am not talking about giving everything to everyone.

Examples:

Jenassa, Dunmer mercenary found in Drunken Huntsman. No real backgrounds, (I can't recall if it was her or someone else who was trained by Morag Tong, Couldn't find the info anywhere)

I don't feel bad at all when I give her light Chitin armor. (without helmet of course.)

The three ancient nord heroes have those new nordic weapons. Not necessarily "lore friendly", but Golden-hilt looks much better with that "sabre-like" nord sword. Makes them a bit more "unique"

Windhelm merchants, mainly dunmer ones will sell some of the goods from Solstheim. They would be likely to have connections to Solstheim and thus have the goods.

Some of the shady argonians also wear the dark elf clothes. Mostly because I thought that those feel like better choice for them than normal vendor clothing.

Adding werebears to Skyrim is not bad idea either. Skyrim was supposed to almost crawl with all sorts of werebeasts, sadly we only had werewolf.

And I already threw those crossbows to guards of Whiterun/Riften/Solitude and Markarth.

Mainly because those would be the cities that could afford crossbows. Possibly whiterun guards would be better at defending the big city on hill with bows, but I think I'll stick to the crossbows for now.

Still gotta check out some individual NPC's and give crossbows to some of those. Also gotta think if some characters in Solstheim could use crossbows.

Edit:

Also, I do try to keep this as "logical" as possible. Brand Shei is Dunmer, He has those dark elf clothes and he sells only "dunmer goods" that wouldn't rot on their way to his shop. So, no ash hopper legs or such from him.

Also, what do people think about bristlebacks in Skyrim? I personally think that would be a bit.. big. Surely it'd provide some nice change for Skyrim, but it's also said that bristlebacks mainly live in Solstheim.

Another cross-DLC feature not available in Vanilla

-Allow to move spouse and childrens to live in Solstheim player house

The USKP modders was thinking about these and some other cross-DLC fixed but they decided to not do it yet because they will continue with separete patches for Skyrim and every DLC.
