Any way to fix GPU spikes when turning?

Hi,

After using the Skyrim Texture Pack Combiner with all max textures and an ENB i now have a stunning version of Skyrim. However, when turning the camera, the game becomes very laggy and stutters quite a bit and the GPU usage shoots up to 100%. When not turning, the GPU sits at around 50-60%, maybe a bit higher, even with lots of movement going on, NPC's, water, rain, etc. My GPU is the Geforce Gigabyte GTX 780 TI Ghz Edition (Core Base Clock: 1085MHz Core Boost Clock: 1150MHz Memory Clock: 7000MHz Memory Size: 3072MB GDDR5.) My CPU is the AMD Phenom II x4 965 (3.41 GHZ) I have 8 GB of ram. Is my issue the CPU frame pre-load failing to keep up with the GPU or some other similar CPU issue caused by the massive gap between my CPU and GPU or are my majority 4k+ textures pushing even my GPU beyond what its capable of?

Bit more detail:

This so far only happens in some places outside. Going from the start of the game to exiting the Helgen cave after killing the bear has no issues. Running to Riverwood is when it starts. This may be because that path is one of the most resource intensive in the game i think. (Second to the big blue caves near the end of Dawnguard)

Bit more detail 2:

Ok, after delving into the deep dark of skyrims data i found that i had, stupidly, forgotten to set fMasterfilepreloadMB and Ipreloadsize limit which are now 256 and 536870912 respectively. Now i can spin the camera round to my hearts content without any noticable lag (However i did notice some strange light effects on my characters arm. i will assume this is the CPU as it looks like its a shadow that's glitching out). Now i just have 2 problems, extreme load times and uGrids. Are extreme load times a result of high graphics with a low CPU as google would seem to indicate and after loosing hundreds of hours of gameplay on a previous character i am apprehensive to mess with uGrids again to say the least. However on one side of the river is beautifully textured brass and stone paving, grass and flora. On the other side, well, you can probably imagine my disappointment. Is there any way to stabilize high uGrids that has been found in the past 2-3 years? I Would rather not loose another character to the problems they cause :(.

Get ..."Stable Ugrids to load" yes is still useful for those of us that keep the default ugrids (5), Something about the game misbehaving when it comes to Ugrid setting...(Go figure)...lol

Get SPM (Skyrim Performance Monitor) run that for a bit as you play , the Graph will show you how far you have loaded your GPU too.

ENBboost/ with or without Graphics will improve memory management for the game.

SKSE w/SKSE.ini for Memory allocations. (link in my Sig)

have fun....

i own a gtx 780 ti and devils canyon cpu. i use 2k textures, 4k is pointless. stuttering is caused by you exceeding your vram limit. use less textures and optimize.

you do also have a cpu bottleneck

load times are due to your hdd. use an ssd to improve :)

Will check out Stable Ugrids, already got MSI afterburner to show me GPU usage and have ENboos and SKSE already

lower your shadows to medium or high

No!, cant have bad shadows, will just fix the CPU bottleneck i think.

As long as you have a good amount of ram then you can put the 2 commands i mentioned in skyrim.ini under general and the game uses your ram as additional Vram, like i said, it fixed my stuttering. Will an SSD really improve my load times enough to warrant the price? If i was going to get an SSD i would go the whole mile and get an SSD to replace my current HDD and put everything on it, however my current hard drive is 750 GB so for a 1tb ssd I'm looking at a few hundred pounds. i could get the 5ghz 8 core cpu from amd with an aftermarket cooler for less. Obviously both would be great and bring my comp to a spectacular benchmark but I'm currently skint, so it would be one or the other, if either at all.

Well I don't have any stuttering or dips at all, solid 60 fps but glad to know the ini tweaks worked for you!

The problem with using System Ram on top of VRAM is that it is much slower than using the VRAM within the graphics card. I cannot recommend enough that you use Optimizer Textures on your texture folder. It is an amazing tool.

An SSD was an amazing difference with loading times and, contrary to some peoples opinions, I noticed a far smoother experience when playing.

It was when I upgraded my processor I noticed the biggest difference as shadows are a "%"$ in Skyrim! Don't ever use Ultra shadows unless you have a ridiculous computer!

I would advise not getting an AMD processor for Skyrim as intel have (please don't take my word on this) much better performances in this game.

Great choice of card by the way, I went with MSI as I have an MSI mobo and the 780ti is a crazy good card!
