holiday / seasonal mods

awhile back I thought to my self how most games are lacking in the holidays. I know I might be a child at heart but I find it cool and fun when games like animal crossing, phantasy star online 1&2, wow and so on do dumb little events for the seasons. along with decorating the towns. and some having quests. sure its not epic however it really gives one something to look forward too. Bethesda will likely never do this because they are je.. I mean because they don't care about stuff like that. anyway I don't think one person can really make a different like this but maybe if modders each season would make season themed mods that that would be pretty awesome. I don't mean for everyone to do it, but if you have writers block for moding w/e month but want to mod then why not?

doesn't have to be epic, a few touches here and there from him and her and that guy over there and people will have nice little mods they can turn on for the season.

what do you guys think? stupid idea or what?

Skyrim in not an online game. Developers create events usually for games that require internet access. Besides who would pay them for making their workers spend hours on creating and testing content? You get exactly what you paid for.

Second problem would be lore. Why in world a Nord would celebrate X-mass or Dwemer an Easter? They would get hated more than prasaised for this. If you're thinking about lore based events they would seem off since there is ingame calendar dependant on time spent on invidual character. So what if you got stuck in some crypt while there was celebration going on? Will you rest in a bed for a year to see it? And what, if implementation of dynamic event changing meshes and npc behaviour in towns bugged out? (Not unheard of problem with skyrim buggy engine) I can imagine console players raging badly about this.

As for mods, you didn't even check out nexus properly. There are Halloween and X-mas mods already.

It has been my observation that a lot of the seasonal mods appear after the holiday has passed. This is because as the holiday approaches a modder will get the idea to do a holiday mod for it. But mods usually take some time to build. To actually get the mod out on time you have to start early. Check the category listings for mod released last holiday season. That's where I usually find mine.
