Hey everyone.

So I finally decided to seek help in figuring out why I'm having these texture problems when I clearly have the hardware power to not have it? When I hit areas that have a lot of very high texture resolutions (2k 4k 8k) like in my player home with a lot of followers and mannequins with custom high res armor/clothes it will sometimes render textures black or purple or sometimes both. What really bothers me is if I run "Flora Overhaul" I will always get the black & purple textures on either NPC/Player models, etc and then the inevitable crash to desktop after a few minutes. I really love the "Flora Overhaul" mod and want to run it but can't because of this problem. Is there a method to fix the VRAM leak or bug or whatever it is to stop this from happening? My PC specs are below.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Case: Cooler Master HAF X

OS: Windows 7 64Bit Home Premium

HD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB SATA III 7200 RPM 64 MB Cache

Mobo: Gigabyte Intel Z77 LGA 1155 AMD CrossFireX/NVIDIA aka GA-Z77X-UD5H

Ram: 4x4 Corsair Vengeance Blue 16 GB DDR3 1600MHz

CPU: QuadCore Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5Ghz (Overlocked @ 4.5Ghz)

SLI:
GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 SuperClocked 4096MB GDDR5
GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 SuperClocked 4096MB GDDR5

PSU: Corsair Professional Series AX 1200 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Gold (AX1200)

Cooler: NZXT Technologies KRAKEN X60

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I run this game with 251 plugins and use Snow/Clouds/Sky/Moons/Weather/Animals/Player/NPC/Armors/Weapons texture packs and I get 120fps (120hz BenQ 1920x1080) without locking my frames and run it at 60fps with vsync Adaptive (half refresh rate) consistently with my nvidia settings (so that the water glitch and random items bouncing around doesn't happen). As you can see I have 8192 VRAM, why am I getting these problems? Is there a fix? Any help will be very much appreciated.

I've searched on google and other forums many times before coming here and never found a clear answer to this as I really haven't found anyone with as much VRAM as I have with these problems.

List of my active plugins. Some of the names had to be hidden but none of them would have any impact on anything.

With SLI you don't double your VRAM, it rather mirrors the VRAM. So effectively you have 4GB Vram available. Missing textures was in my case a RAM issue rather than a VRAM issue (Skyrim was getting close to it's 3.1GB RAM limit). I started using the memory function of ENB (also called ENBBoost) and it solved my problems.

Thank for the quick reply bojanni. But I seem to be at a crossroad here... I forgot to mention that I use an ENB called "FXAA Post Process Injector" http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/131/? And it's something that I can't play skyrim without unless ENB Boost can bring the same thing or if there is a way to merge both without any conflicts.

As you can see here the differents in the pictures with FXAA PPI ENB on/off.

The images may not look much different to some, but to me it's a big difference and pictures don't do it justice. The image is sharper and the colors are more noticeable. Water being bluer, Trees being greener, sharper image = more detailed textures, etc.

It will suck if I can't get both things working or get ENB Booster to give me the same detail as FXAA PPI does. Any suggestions? Again thank you very much and I really appreciate the help.

Ok, I am not sure it will work but try this:

rename the d3d9.dll that belongs to the FXAA PPI to FXAA_d3d9.dll

Install the ENBBoost by following the guide I linked to earlier.

Open the enbseries.ini file and edit this part:

EnableProxyLibrary=true
InitProxyFunctions=true
ProxyLibrary=FXAA_d3d9.dll

Oh wow, you're the best, I worship the ground you walk on! lol. Thank you so very much for your help bojanni. They are both working amazing together. I'm running all my mega texture mods with Flora flawlessly now with no purple or black textures and no crashes to desktop. Skyrim has just became 5x more fun to play now.

  • 4 months later...

Hi,

I came here because I have the same problem with purple and black textures occasionally so I installed and ran the Skyrim Performance Monitor by Sir Garnon and discovered, that the textures fail to load when I hit above 3.1 GB RAM usage on my system. I have a 4096 MB graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX) and run Windows 7 64bit. I have also a heavily modded Skyrim version with 200+ mods and many high res texture replacers, so Im pretty sure the problem is the 3.1 GB RAM threshold imposed by the game.

Im not, however running an ENB, so my question is:

Is it possible to solve my RAM problem by running that ENBoost you were talking about?

Thx
