HELP!

I have 150 plugins total for my Skyrim, and my computer should be able to handle it. It's just over a year old, has 8 GB ram, NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 765m, and Intel Inside CORE i7. It's an ASUS Republic of Gamers Laptop, and it runs absolutely fantastically even with all these mods. Yet here's the thing: out of nowhere my game will CTD or freeze so badly that I have to log out of windows and log back in. That's the only option other than forcing it to power off with the power button. I have tried numerous different methods to try and solve this including:

  • Downloading Razer Game Booster (now called Razer Cortex) and boosting my system when I play. This program limits the available memory for non-critical processes to max out performance while gaming.
  • Deleting mods.
  • Starting new saves.
  • Wiping my load order clean of all mods, uninstalling the game, and re installing the game plus mods.
  • TESV Edit.
  • SSME.
  • Safety Load.
  • Skyrim CTD and Memory EN boost.

I tried all of this and I have no clue what is causing all my issues. My computer runs like a dream even with all this, but if I do just one simple thing like open my inventory, get hit by anything hostile, hit anything hostile, try and wait for a few hours, sleep on a bed, sit in a chair, pick up anything, auto save, bring up the favorites menu, bring up the quest journal/stats page/settings menu, opening a door without a loading screen, opening a door that leads to another cell, or basically anything. I can just be walking in the least detailed room in the game and it will crash. Or freeze. I can't figure it out, so I will give you all a list of all my mods in their exact load order as a spoiler, and hope that someone can help me understand what I am doing wrong. Thank you kindly.

I typed in the names of these plugins exactly as they appear in my NMM Plugins list in the exact order they appeared in. I ran BOSS, but BOSS actually screws up my load order and puts some of the requiem patches that require the "resources" patch as a master file above it. It also screws up a lot of other mods, so I only used it once before installing the requiem patches, but had to rearrange them anyways before I could run the SkyProc Patchers. Before that, I ran Wrye Bash and made the Bashed Patch, then ran the Patchers starting with Dual Sheath Redux. Afterwards I installed Alternate Start. I hope this is enough information to go on. Thanks again.

There are orange boxes in Wrye Bash. Yes I did delete the Skyrim folder in ...steamapps/common. I also deleted the Skyrim folder in Libraries/Documents/My Games and then deleted it from steam before re installing. When I say I "tried" TESV Edit I really mean I ran the app, but was absolutely confused by what I was seeing. I have never actually made any mods myself, or any custom .ini edits. I had no idea what I was doing, so I didn't touch it. I don't know what the orange boxes in Wrye Bash indicate (or maybe I do, and don't remember). I only know that I followed the instructions on all the mods in which order to install them and where they should be in my load order. I am pretty helpless here, aren't I?

Edit: I mentioned in the spoiler that I used BOSS which uses LOOT and the Masterlist. It screwed up my load order, and I had to manually adjust it so the game wouldn't CTD upon launch. Also you can't run any SkyProc Patchers if your load order will cause a CTD upon launch. I hope this extra bit of knowledge is insightful.

try this mini guide I have developed over time, works for a LOT of people and it's really easy

1) You need to run LOOT, Wrye Bash and TES5Edit, in that order

Loot is not 100% and if that is all you're using you're going to have many problems as you progress through your play through, BOSS is no longer being supported and thus is out of date with newer mods.

1.5 ) with many mods loaded, you should be using 2 other programs ( Wrye Bash and TES5Edit ), when you run Wrye Bash if any checkmarks are not green, those mods are causing problems in your game, you make them turn green by dragging them up or down in your load order in wrye bash till they do turn green, ok that's one problem

2) with many mods loaded into your game you HAVE to have either a merged patch or bashed patch file, once again Wrye Bash is your friend because it will automatically make you a bashed patch file when it loads your mods. A bashed patch file makes all your weapon and armor and other mods play nice together, it also keeps track of leveled lists in the game and makes them work better together also. One other thing, make sure you enable ( check mark ) the bashed patch Wrye Bash makes, then right click it and choose rebuild patch as the one Wrye Bash makes is empty, which should always be last in your load order unless you're using an ENB or the Reproccer. DO NOT USE A MERGED PATCH AND A BASHED PATCH AT THE SAME TIME, ONE OR THE OTHER.

3) TES5EDIT is used to do 2 things,

(A) verify that your load order is not missing any files that your mods need and

(B) verify that no primary files are being loaded after secondary files. When you run TES5EDIT it will throw up an error box and the error will be displayed at the bottom of the right pane / panel. All you have to do is read what it says and it will tell you exactly how to fix the problem in Wrye Bash. Yes, you can open Wrye Bash while TES5EDIT is open so you don't even have to write down what the error is

Please remember that while LOOT is a great program it is NOT 100 %

- concerning what the red, orange, and green check marks mean

Red means a missing master file - basically a guaranteed CTD on startup. Orange means that some ESP has requested its master files in an order that is different to the the order that you currently have them in. Orange mods are arguably more dangerous, because you won't necessarily get an immediate CTD every time, so you may be lulled into a false sense of security, whereas in reality you have an unstable load order.

Clicking on the orange/red mods will show you what masters they have, and what order they want them in. From here on in, it becomes like a puzzle: you need to manually drag and drop the various masters in your load order until their order is harmonious ( IE:. you've managed to provide the desired order of master files for every single ESP in your list simultaneously ) and all of your oranges have disappeared. If it's not possible to eliminate all orange mods, you may need to ditch one or two mods/patches.

All the files in here are in my siggy, just run them in the order I have them listed

Let me know if you need any more help

EDIT: SKYui should be loaded directly above your bashed patch. SKYui is a menu management mod and thus should be loaded AFTER any other mods except the patch file, Reproccer, ASIS, or an ENB
