Anyway, I finished the LandBond Stone and I am working on the scripts to make it send Manna to the Talisman.

 

The piece across the top is a Lock down which the player welds via a spell into place, locking his BondStone to the Claim Socket. I got the FX of the shock spell to work at each of the leg mounting contact points, reduced in scale, so it looks like it is actually an arc weld as the spell is cast. Pretty cool effect really. I wish I could post videos here.

Oh wow. That looks cool. How will it work though? Will the effects be active in the characters inventory or will the player have to equip it?

So you craft three pieces, the SocketBase, the Orb, and the Lock Ring.

 

You take the Socket Base to Power Point, a glowing spot when a particular scrying spell is active, that is the location at the "heart" of the Land you wish to bond. You place the base at the glowing spot, and begin casting a spell to embue or fuse it to the Land (rock). The spell has a 30-40 second duration, but can be extended by casting the spell again before it runs out.

 

It takes about 20X the spell casting to make it complete. During that time, the "noise" of the spell attracts all kinds of creatures, both those from the land being claimed, like bears, but also things from Oblivion, the underworld(falmer) and competing Manna Mages toward the end. They will all agro on you, trying to keep you from casting the next iteration of the spell.

 

If you survive to make the bond complete, the Socket is now avail for any Manna Mage to place his Claim Orb in the socket, and cast another spell to weld the Lock Ring atop of it. This process only takes a few moments, and three iterations of the casting, but it uses a huge amount of both Magicka and Manna. The third iteration must be completed by within 1 minute, or the spell fails.

 

A clever opposing Manna Mage will wait until you've finished the socket, and just begin to cast the 2nd welding spell, then pounce, when you're weakened and vulnerable. After you're dead, he can socket his own Claim Orb.

 

A land which is socketed, but not claimed, is very visible to a Manna Mage scrying for one, and can be sensed from 100 of miles away.

 

Once claimed, a land can be "Stolen" by cutting the bonds of the locking ring, which are both a metal weld, but also a strong magical warding. This process takes 10s of hours of continuous casting, and the owning Mage can feel the attack from anywhere in Tamriel.

 

Ambushes by Opposing Manna Mages, by setting up forces around a Land Bond Socket, and then starting the breaker spell is a common AI tactic of rival Manna Mages.

 

A Land Bond Socket inside a defensible position, like a Cavern, Fortress, or Mages Tower, is a far more valuable Land than one with its Socket out in the open.

 

Manna Mage often Build Towers atop of Power Points, and when searching for abandoned lands to claim, the power point is often found in the ruins of the Mage Tower or Dungeon Lair.

 

So, the Land Bonds are far more than just a device to give power, they are a plot and quest driver as well.

So what are the perks of owning this land? Is it just for quests or does it make you more powerful?

 

Everyday, the lands that you're bonded to, dump a slug of "Colored" or Aligned Manna into your storage Krysaal, or magic crystal, in your talisman amulet.

 

When ever you cast a Manna Magic Spell, which is to say, a game engine scripted spell, which tend to be powerful things beyond the normal spell system, you draw upon that Manna to power the magic.

 

The complete Grimoire of Manna Magic Spells is over a 100 spells long, but they include:
