Audio modding for a beginner?

Hello there,

I'm looking to do some audio mods for Dark Souls but need a bit of help with the technical side of things. I am wondering where one would actually place the finished audio files, as I can't see any place for them in my DATA folder. I imagine it would probably involve delving deep into the games file cache.

For anyone else wanting to do something similar, this generous reddit user blind_mown uploaded the sound files from DaS here: https://mega.co.nz/#!NZxwiIaB!e3gE0-TlmQkSAvv2JTNj0AkRJB-OLL4f5Myo6ryVlAc

The reference list for the audio files: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aq5FCylFTxCydHRTZ19RaW5BRWJMX0ZpSllWVk9vSVE&usp=sharing#gid=0

I was originally wanting to replace some of the ambient sounds (imagine going through TOTG with far away screams or monster growls, while water drips from the cave ceiling and rocks crumble off the cliffs for example) however, in the aforementioned audio package I have yet to find any ambient sounds, music or dialogue. So I was thinking of starting off with something simple, say, replacing the talking wood carvings with some more cheeky phrases.

Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated, cheers (:
