Random FPS drops when recording, and when not!

I would like to start out by saying that It's not a hardware issue! I'll lost my specs below-

● i7-4790k 4.4GHz (Cooled by the H100i)

● 2 GTX 970s SLI (Obviously)

● 16gb DDR3 Ram

● 1000w PSU

As for recording, I'm recording to an empty 1tb WD green drive! And I've got skyrim on one of my 3 240gb SSDs. So.. I don't believe they are crashing..

I'll explain the problem in a bit more detail. When I'm recording or playing I get HUGE random lag spikes that are only there for a split second. It happens FAR more when I'm recording. But yeah, I get these just random spikes of lag in the weirdest places.. Not even where you'd expect it.. sometimes just when walking.. sometimes when fighting, sometimes just when I'm talking to people. It will stay at a constant 60FPS for the most part.. but every little while it drops VERY significantly! I have no idea whats going on.. or why its going this.. I'm not sure if my cpu is bottlenecking.. because I'm not actually sure what a bottleneck is.. But it seems more skyrim side.. I thought It had something to do with loading cells.. But how could that be it? I've never had the problem, even on my old machine! I'm in serious need of help! Its ruining my recordings! Any advice/fixes/tips would be GREATLY appreciated!

how to ask for help

writing a file to a HD can cause stutters, depending what kind of mods you're using can also affect that.

using ssme/skse and enboost and stable ugrids to load mod?

I'm using skse, and about 85 mods.. And I've had these exact mods in before I reinstalled skyrim.. and there were no stutters. :/ What should I do?

'micro stutters' are common place with Skyrim (and other Bethesda games running on the same engine)

You could try...

- defragging the hd you're playing skyrim off

- check if all your cpu cores are unparked. google cpu unpark and you want the first link.

- use a different recording program and/or drop the recording to 30 fps.

- locking your fps to 50/55 and see if it stops the stuttering (this way if you're using intense scripts the engine can somewhat keep up)

- generate new ini files

- cull some script intensive mods
