Missing CK saved files & Gray Face fixes.

Making my first mod, a simple custom follower, I ran into two problems:

- Creation Kit saved files in data folder missing or invisible.

- In game, custom NPC had gray face, not matching body color, wich was the one intended.

I’m a noob, but I managed to fix this issues, googling and tinkering a lot. So if you ran into other issues I sugest doing the same, wich is even faster than posting questions and waiting for a response, wich I suggest as a secondary option, after you’ve checked nobody else has asked the same before.

Don’t get discouraged, moding can be as fun as playing, and even more rewarding ;)

Troubleshooting:

Creation Kit saved files in data folder missing or invisible:

I couldn’t get arround the reason nor directly fix it, but i found online how this can be circumvented. After saving, open again the CK, no need to load data again, just save, and when browsing window for saving opens, search your previous saved esp, which should be now visible with a tiny lock symbol on it, right click it and select “send to – my documents”. Then, just cancel the saving window and your esp should be, without the lock, in your documents folder. You should now be able to copy it wherever you like, even your data folder (after erasing the original one through te same process), where it will be now both visible and editable through CK.

Custom NPC gray face, not matching body color, the one intended:

I found out that, at least for me, when CK saved my NPCs esp, it didnt include the head textures (skin color, warpaint, and other details) in the esp. Online I found how to include them in the mod accompanying the esp.

When in CK, go to file -> data, and load your esp (or your NPC will not show). Open object window and in its menu, select – Actors, Actor, your NPC’s race, gender, and finally next to the menu select its name and then press ctrl+F4. A window will prompt, asking confirmation to export facegen data for selected NPC. Click Yes. Then Ok. Now close CK and, without loading any data, reopen it and save. Here you’ll see a “Meshes” folderand a “Textures” folder with lock on it (same fix than previous problem above). Send both to documents. Now search for them there and pack them in a zip file along the esp. (2 folders and 1 esp in the zip). Now add this zip to your mods using Mod Orgainzer (I insistently recomend this program) or Nexus Mod Manager. You can also upload the zip to the web for other users to use with its custom face color and all its wonderfull and original features).

This fixes worked for me, but might not work for you. Remember to back up everything. I assume no responsibility for any damage to your saves nor other files.

I apologize for the long explanation, I just wanted to be really clear, and for any orthography or grammar mistake, I am not a native English speaker.
