Spectral arrow spell

For those of you that don't know, Spectral arrow is an unobtainable spell in skyrim, that can be added through the use of console, it fires a spectral arrow from your hand for 30 pts of damage and a 100% stagger. The only issue is that it doesn't really scale with your conjuration nor does it benefit from any perks that I know off. Any one up to having it scale up with conjuration perks? Perhaps benefit from the bound weapon ones, and have the dual soul perk make you fire two arrows/double the damage?

100% stagger already sounds overpowered

Not really, 30 points of damage is pretty low, and of course it uses mana, so it only has so many shots. It IS a really useful spell for mages though, as it provides extra time for more powerful spells (As in spectral arrow in one hand and fireball or something in the other). But yea it doesn't need to increase the power itself, just integrate it more into the conjuration tree. It could just add the soul trap and banish daedra effect from the bond weapons.

people with high magica would be using that spell 50 times in a row and endless-stagger enemies lol, then run away for a few seconds and restart the whole thing

though i doubt enemies would survive the first 50...

As I said before, its a spell that already exists in the game files, and can easily be added through console, it even has a working spell tome. And the damage is a pretty low, constant 30, at higher difficulties it does little more than give a little respite for health to regen  But since it is a cool spell with a lot of potential, I really wanted it to scale somehow as to be useful in higher levels. Not to mention its the only spell in Conjuration that deals direct damage.

There's a good reason it isn't obtainable. No matter what level, a 100% guaranteed ranged stagger is overpowered even if it does no damage. Why? Because an opponent will never be able to land a hit on you as long as you use that spell. Everytime they get close you just stagger them and proceed. Unrelenting force has a cool down for a reason, stagger and knockdown is the most overpowered mechanic in a game. Having that on a spammable spell is just bullshit.

Guys, this is someone asking for a mod, not opinions on whether something is OP or not, while I agree it probably is, it's not relevant to his request. You don't have to use it.

I had a quick look at the CK, but (for instance) the bound bow is classified as a weapon which has an enchantment which tests for the perks. The spectral arrow is just a projectile. They are treated differently and I can't apply the same effects without reworking a lot more than I would for what should be a 5-minute mod. Maybe someone else can help you out.

Thank you for your helpful answer. And I understand, it sounds like a lot of effort, just wanted the opinion of the mod community in terms of integrating unobtainable content into the game, but it seems no one is interested. Thank you for your time.

  • 1 year later...
I'll change it to: 30% chance to stagger, Power affects magnitude for the damage, then as a bonus, when dual casted it becomes a barrage of arrows to wherever the caster is pointing at (double spell cost for balance).. Seem fair now? (will not implement until it's balanced) Edited by SyncDrone
